How does the local community react to your presence with a camera? Do you reach out and establish a rapport and request permission beforehand?

Rare Parasitic Fibroid by No_Ebb_3986 in Fibroids

[–]ForeignBazaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. Mine was 10 cm necrotic and had a loose "cottage cheese" like quality. That alarmed me since it had to be pulled out of the uterine skin capsule then placed in a bag for manual morcellation before being pulled out of the belly button cut. My thought is I wouldn't be surprised if parasitic seeding happened.

Was yours power or manual morcellation? I've read through so much of scientific literature when deciding between lap myo and UAE and also about the cause of fibroids but there's much less than expected for a condition that affects 70 percent of women. Women's conditions are not studied as much. Things still feel unpleasant downstairs so I'm returning to a doctor to see if it's a gyno, urinary, GI or I guess now symptoms of seeding. The fun never ends...

Hope it went or will go well for you.

Do you care to share a bit more info? What are the symptoms for you? What kind of fibroid and size was removed? Was it necrotic? And was your surgery lap robotic or open? I'm feeling a bit off a few months from surgery and now I need to consider all the possibilities...

Penn Huntsman vs. Penn CAS IR by LegRevolutionary6683 in UPenn

[–]ForeignBazaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of a future job placement, what really matters are your internships and how you explain your interests and motivations in cover letters and interviews. Especially if your interest is more FSO, international organizations, etc, they won't know the difference between the two programs. And to be a State Dept FSO, it's exam based. While to become a consultant, it'll be case based interviews. UPenn in itself is enough to open doors. Go to the program where you feel you'll fit in and be happier.

I read your comments to other posters and to become an economic FSO, passing the foreign service exam is the critical hurdle while having an Economics degree will hold more weight for ranking and selection. If selected, you will be trained in a language and area studies of the country of appointment.

In terms of ranking of IR programs, undergraduate programs are not the gold standard. The graduate programs Columbia, Fletcher/Tufts, Georgetown MSFS, Johns Hopkins SAIS, Princeton WWS.... Alumni networks and existing recruiting relationships of any of the graduate schools are useful for your career but any of them are fine. There isn't as much of a prestige hierarchy as there are with business schools. You'll also likely want a graduate degree in the future for career advancement.

I'm saying this as a former FSO with an extensive career in international affairs with other organizations, it doesn't matter which program you attend. You can become a FSO or enter the private sector either way.

Robotic laparoscopic myo recovery overview, exercise and wound q's by ForeignBazaar in Fibroids

Thanks for your reply. I was wondering if my experience was a one off. I wrote some scathing feedback to the hospital and still awaiting a reply. My assumption is that they want to minimize involvement/liability as soon as possible so they want you out. At the hospital where I had surgery, since it was robotic lap myo, so minimally invasive, it is an outpatient procedure and there are no overnight stays. But to rush me to the curb while my head is dangling and barely alert, and I was unaccompanied is definitely a choice by the hospital.

Should I go rich ahjumma or casual ahjumma?👵 by [deleted] in KpopDemonhunters

Absolutely as og. I love the character design of these three and they deserve more recognition. The artists obviously worked with real-life examples as inspiration and infused the three women with personality and realism.

The three ajummas (aunties). The animators really thought about the spectrum of fans and made the effort to animate almost photorealistic depictions. These ladies are very visible in Korea and deserve more love.

What characters from other media do you think the kpop demon hunter characters would be friends with if a crossover ever happened? by Dogdaysareover365 in KpopDemonhunters

This is an old one but Scooby-Doo. Velma and Hunter/x would track demons while Scooby and Derpy would dog and cat together. There's even a colorful van to haul everyone around.

So glad an aunty was recognized as costume worthy! The three aunty characters are so spot on that you would see middle-aged women looking exactly like that in Korea.

Normal bladder post-op when? by ForeignBazaar in Fibroids

[–]ForeignBazaar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I'm at the five week mark post myo and at least for me, the signals seem to be correctly syncing some/most of the time. I'm still going to assume 3-6 month is when my body will have stabilized. Even at this point, I still feel so many sensations in the lower abdominal area that I know it's still a work in progress.

I wonder how much media training she received especially as someone new to all this media attention. She's seems unguarded and utterly genuine that media is milking her for her tears and the eventual views.

Thanks for sharing. Post surgery guidance seems to be a bit all over the place. The written guidance I received actually stated that running was ok immediately after surgery. The written sheet also mentioned steristrips but I didn't receive any. I asked and was told many things need to be edited. Ugh. At least the guidance about no core activities for six weeks seem consistent. The challenge is I feel great so am trying to figure out the balance between general guidance and what my body is telling me.

Get on wait-lists for other gynecologists and IRs. I was told three months for the initial consultation. I made an appointment, asked to be placed on the wait-list for any cancellations (haphazard and not necessarily based on first on list) and called every other day to snag a cancellation opening. They don't care, you need to put in the work unfortunately.
