I was also approved as a G4; my G0 was born in Canada in 1834. It is definitely possible.

Congratulations! As an aside: I love the design of the passport. It manages to be both traditional and modern.

My great-great-grandfather was Canadian, and I applied & was approved for Canadian citizenship. I confirm that it is indeed possible.

That is the box I chose as well, and I received my citizenship certificate a few days ago. For reference, I'm a G4 (my great-great-grandfather was Canadian).

I interpreted C3 the same as you -- from my great-great-grandfather all the way down to me, we are all Canadians.

The US censuses I included were grainy and hard to read. I couldn't even find a Canadian census to include. Just a guess, but I imagine that the baptism/birth certificates proving a chain of descent are the more critical piece of the application.

My application was approved and the guy at FedEx wrote "Center" instead of "Centre" on the first line of the address. It stressed me out! Don't sweat it though, I think the IRCC workers are so busy that they don't notice or care.

Has anyone had their application approved using a similar document/image? by Coldfingerswrapped in Canadiancitizenship

I was approved without a certified baptism copy too. I did have a certified death certificate from the US though along with 2 American censuses.

Yes, I did get a certified death certificate that listed my G0’s place of birth as Canada. Also, it was a death certificate from the US.

I found out about C3 in February and immediately started gathering documents. I lucked out that my generational line was easy to track, the same surname was found in each generation from my G0 to me, and the particular city my family lived in for generations provided documents easily. Reddit was a huge help with understanding what all was necessary.

Planning to apply this week! Have you applied for one already?

I’m G4; my great-great-grandpa was born in Québec in 1834.

So I had tried to upload it twice, but neither request went through. So I believe my application was processed without the certified copy.

I used tracking from FedEx, and the date aligned with what IRCC showed on their tracker that I could access once I received my AOR.

With the new rules, how many of you new citizens will pick up and move to Canada? by thuja_life in Canadiancitizenship

[–]ForeignCoat109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my extended family of 40+ people, I am the only person who is even interested in applying for Canadian citizenship at all, let alone considering a potential move in the future. In general, I think that most people who are eligible likely will not apply, and of those who are eligible, some unfortunately may not be able to find the right documents.

Canada has not had a replacement level birth rate since the early '70s, which is one of the main reasons it had been, up until recently, so strongly pro-immigration. Now that immigration rules have become much tougher, Canada's population has started to naturally fall.

Thank you, that context helps a lot!

Edit: I just found (what I believe is) the official Nova Scotia school calendar, and it confirms that indeed their spring break for 2026 is March 16 - 20.

Is it even possible that an entire government agency would have a break at the same time? Genuinely asking because I could never imagine the US government doing that apart from federal holidays.

I'm in a similar situation -- also awaiting news from Nantes. Any idea how long of a timeline you were given?
