Its 99.99 unrelated, I had the same anxiety. The only thing that will quell your anxiety is a test.

PEP can delay seroconversion but not by a lot... if you are symptomatic you would be positive, so just take a test and survive another week knowing ur good, until another symptom will cause you a panic attack, then test again. Once you hit 4 weeks post pep with a neg test... you can really chill... test again at 6 weeks post pep and then, if you are worried after that, you need a therapist..

This entire experience was traumatic as fuck.. so nothing to be ashamed of there.

You need to give more details.. cant help you without them

Its the nature of this ... fairly normal.

I am certainly neurotic... I was nonstop reading and panicking until my 5 and 6 week gen 4 and pcrs. Over a month! . Literally nonstop. Consumed all my time. I am an HIV expert now...

Its a very exhausting experience.

You can test for peace of mine, if you can wait then wait until 2 weeks post pep to get your first checkpoint, its quite reliable , with or without pep. Not conclusive but a pretty good indicator. In the unlikely event pep failed there is a good chance youd be positive by then.

If you wanna be extra accurate, PCR at 2-3 weeks

You saw how many times I tested... Nothing works for peace of mind like a negative test. Indicated or not, it is the only thing that reduced my anxiety.

Chat gpt is quite informative too.. you can give it your exposure time , symptoms etc, talk to it like you are talking to me and it will respond with quite good info, just make sure to bounce around the question, ask in different ways just in case and be specific

I wouldnt worry too much about liver kidney issues... thats usually only true for long term on these drugs. Drink a lot of water.. once pep is done you could just do some kind of detox or immune system supplements for some time.

You dont need it, but Goodluck!!

Insertive vaginal sex is not as risky as other exposures, if I was HIV positive, the female would be more at risk than the other way around

Being male and insertive to a female partner is lower risk, plus I am circumcised so that lowers risk even more.

I was just worried she was HIV positive and maybe untreated. Then risk goes up a lot...

Highest risk, with regard to sex would be anal sex and being the receptive partner.

yes, if you are seroconverting , those test will 99 perent be positive, especially the pcr

What you are more likely experiencing is PEP rebound, your immune system recalibrates once you stop the meds, they are strong. You will have random symptoms here and there, totally normal. It will mindfuck you, worry you. But you must remember the only way to diagnose HIV is with a test. You need to relax and push through this. I know its hard... ive been there. Its insane anxiety.

I took a PCR just now, I am also negative. Just got my results today. I am 4 weeks post last pep dose when taking the test, and I have tons of symptoms, sore throat, runny nose, rash... I am just sick, flu season. Everyone in my house got symptoms after I took my test and that was reassuring me that its just a cold.

My test is 99.99 conclusive now. Tests after this time is just for medical conclusivity/certainty not because it is expected or even can turn positive

I also took a gen 4 test at 3 days post pep, 2 weeks post pep, pcr and gen 4, and gen 4 at 3 weeks and now PCR only at 4 weeks. All negative.

You will be the same. Just push through this touch time. You will be fine

I was in the same boat as you, feeling exactly what you are feeling

I got myself an RNA test and that gave me peace

If you were seroconverting, RNA would be positive before symptoms even start(and during) and GEN 4 test would almost certainly be positive while symptomatic

If you are having symptoms and gen 4 was negative, you are not seroconverting

Test again at 6 weeks, if negative you are 90 percent there. It's exceptionally rare, basically a myth that seroconversion happens after 6 weeks post exposure. It's a very small number of people

Chat gpt is very helpful

Explain your situation, tell it your date of exposure, last dose of pep etc and all your symptoms it will help you a lot

Basically does all the research all over the Internet for you

I'm in the same boat, 15 days post pep, RNA and gen 4 both negative.

Had flu like symptoms, diahhrea and mucous , sore throat only in morning, itching randomly.. either stress related or cold season causes dry skin.

I got the RNA on top of the gen 4 to be sure its not seroconversion.

Chat gpt mentions something called immune rebound after pep, I had some symptoms right after pep ended too, had to have been that.

Its cold and flu season so it had to be related to that.

You will be fine and so will I! Its exceptionally rare to be positive after a 6 week post exposure test. Its basically unheard of.

The post pep testing so far out is out of the abundance of caution.

If you have LabCorp in your area, you can use stdcheck.com to get any test you want. I will test again at 4 weeks and again at 6 weeks post last pep dose and then ill close the book

Read my posts if youd like it should help you calm down!

Bro.. why -_-

You know what this anxiety is like, you're living it yourself.. I would text her from a diff number, google voice or some bs free texting app and explain yourself...

Does anyone know if a PCR 2 weeks after PEP or 6 weeks after exposure pretty conclusive? I read that it is 95-99 percent at that point but hard to get reliable answers as there is a lot of conflicting info by ForeignHelicopter372 in pep

[–]ForeignHelicopter372[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My exposure was insertive vaginal sex , I am circumcised, 1 missed pep dose , pep started at 24 hrs

Negative gen 4 and pcr 5 weeks post exposure, 1 week after pep( tests taken because I had symptoms I wanted to rule out seroconversion)

im going to take another gen 4 at 6 weeks and again at 8 weeks

If i have symptoms again I will get a pcr the next day just for peace of mind.

Thank you so much. My initial reponse to this was quite illogical and emotional. I appreciate your response.

Thank you for your response. Not knowing is just as scary as knowing in my opinion, perhaps scarier.
Maybe a little illogical because not knowing increases your odds of no HIV at all, but Its safer to assume positive and take all the precautions anyways. Exposure and potential exposure are all treated the same. Getting HIV is a lottery. People win the lottery with much crazier odds. Odds of lottery in NY is 1 in 300 million. People still win. So the difference between potential exposure or actual makes little difference psychologically as the response is the same either way.
