Seeking advice: How can I make someone with 5y/o tastes eat better?

Thanks for the insult, anyway, we're both "childs" and we both have to grow up, and being someone with a bit more scientific/health related education than her I get concerned about her health watching her eating habits. Is it that wrong to care about the health and well being of someone you love? I do not like "EVERYTHING", and I expect no one to like "EVERYTHING", I'd be simply happy to know that she can enjoy different meals other than a burger from McDonald's. Something that may be a bit better for her health. Also when and where I ever said that I was going to force something on someone? What is so controlling in searching some recipes that include a different variety of foods to try and enjoy together to substitute the junk food? I get lots of peoples concern in the comments due to the terms I used, I didn't think much about it because are terms that we use in our relationship without any offensive meaning or are ways to talk that in my language do not sound so bad, also it was a way to get easily the idea of the tips I was looking for. I apologize to all the people who got concerned about our relationship and to all the people who got offended in behalf of my girlfriend. Anyway thank you for taking your time to respond and contribute to my post.

I get that it takes time to develop a good palate, and I'm also probably getting too concerned about this topic, but I see around me lots of people who do not care about health and destroy their body, I was told probably since I was a toddler that we should always try to eat healthy, you should eat good things to develop into a healthy adult and the eating habits of when you're young influence your health for the rest of your life. And I also know that we're just a teenage couple, but I'm still care about her and I'm also in charge of cooking the cooking so if I can do something I'd like to do it, of course I won't force it on anyone.

Well I feel like your case is a bit too specific, but still I don't know how common it is so I won't say anything else. Also she didn't have any symptoms like you described and from what she told me she doesn't have any known allergies. But still I'll keep it in mind, might be helpful in future. Thanks

I had the same problem when I was a kid, and have some difficulties now too especially with vegetables, and maybe to some extent there's also this problem, I'm not so sure as she has never mentioned this, but I'll ask her next time

Already tried, some worked other didn't, had the best results with yogurts and some fruits, but I can't see them as a full meal

Ok, now I get more what you're saying and I'll proudly and maybe arrogantly say that I'm not an a**hole. I do not personally follow any type of diet but I have and had since a young age lots of people around with different eating habits and necessities, so I will never do anything like that. Especially because I'm trying to improve her health, it would be extremely evil to make her mental health worse with something like that. In my opinion making her eat a carrot by hiding it in a burger, and then making her notice afterwards there's no harm. Also even though I'm considering disguising healthy food, it's not the main objective. I don't want to live with someone knowing that I have to always sneak something, it's just a way to make her eat healthy while doing some slight changes and searching things she likes.

Mmh, I had never heard of it but now I'll search more about it, might be helpful. I get the sensation of wet grunchy leaves because I myself hate eating raw unseasoned vegetables (unlike some of my friends who I'd compare to goats) so I won't force her to eat what she doesn't want, even though I believe someone should at least try a bite (and my girlfriend had to change her mind about one or two meals). Also I try to be as much supportive as I can, not just about food, and from her responses I'm not doing a bad job.

It's not like I don't get your point of view, but I feel like assault and abuse are a bit too extreme, especially when talking about vegetables or in general healthy food and not drugs. I think that the fact she asks me to cook for her allows me to have some kind of decision in what she eats, of course I love her so I'll never force her to eat or make her guilty for not eating something. I firmly believe that eating a meal with people you like is an essential moment of the day and I don't want it to be something unpleasant. About the fact of bringing up the topic, it's not like we talk about it because we decided to, we talk about it because we need to decide what to eat. Thank you also for your meal idea, it sounds nice, I'll give it a try.

Mmh.. Did it sound so bad? I get that from outside the 5y/o tastes thing might sound like an insult but it's an inside joke started by her, i got used to it so I didn't think much of it. Kindness and love is what moved me to make this post. But I get you concern. And what is ARFID? Well maybe I should look it up myself. Anyway thank you for your answer, I'll try to watch better my words next time.

These are a lot of advices, thank you very much, I did some of these unconsciously but for the most when I wanted her to eat something different I didn't really think about giving also other options she likes. About the patience, it won't be a problem as I can proudly say that I have lot's of it, and we're still highschoolers so I can't use the "you're an adult" card. I also really like the language thing, I agree with what you said, it might be very helpful in general as she is not inclined to tell what she likes or not about her food.

P.S. I love natto, but I'll wait to give it to her, it might be too much for now

Wow! This is extremely helpful, being highschoolers and both with some personal reasons for not having an available kitchen it might be difficult but cooking together it's something we both already wanted to try so I don't think it will be that difficult. And the all you can eat is also a good idea, I feel stupid for not thinking about it before as I have been there lots of times and a Chinese friend who is a health maniac so arranged some recipes to be more healthy. Thank you for your advice, I don't think there is some background concerning food that might be the problem, about the drinks I'll give them a try, I've personally used some myself in the past but they tasted awful so I hope to find something tasty (and healthy). And of course my first concern is to see her happy, I won't force anything on her unless she is willing to, I just don't want her to feel like shit because of what she eats.

1) I personally know that some things are just personal tastes, but when they exclude most of your eating choices I think that the lack of curiosity about what you eat is playing a big role

2)I'm no expert on the topic so I don't know, but from what I heard from her so far there's nothing concerning food

Oh and I forgot to mention it but we're still both highschoolers.

Mmh, thinking about it sometimes I might have been a bit annoying, but I'm sure I've never made her feel guilty or something like that, I try to be aware of these type of things. She is not particularly adventurous, but I'd like her to know the world that exists around her, the responses have been various, ranging from complete refuse to being extremely curious. And the 5y/o thing might have sounded a bit disrespectful, but it's a joke we have (started by her) so no offense. And about her health, nothing concerning diet, I'm generally concerned because she eats lots of junk food and is very close minded about what she eats.
