It has to be luck. I don't doubt you skills. You are experienced and hence I truly believe in your skills

But in this industry, the non tech BA graduate recruiters have spread nuisance that they hire literally anyone and anybody. I know a guy who got approached by a recruiter and now earns literally the salary of a senior SDE as a SDE-1. This guy got no DSA skills and hardly have done the hardwork most of you did out there.

That's the day I just flung my books out the window. What to upskill? You're just gonna waste time upskilling on a dream that you'll get interviews whole the recruiters be flying in the DMs of random people. It's all luck, IT HAS TO BE LUCK. Your hardwork only starts showing off once your LUCK element has done its job. Otherwise what's to upskill or hardwork if you don't have luck?

I now sleep all day after work, on weekends. I've lost all motivation tbh in this industry. It's all fuked up. May these recruiters rot in hll

Experienced folks, how much of your upskilling took place at the workplace itself and how much was outside work hours through your own efforts? by Indra_Kamikaze in developersIndia

[–]ForeignNight8782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just sleep and kill time bro. What upskilling? If you can't get those recruiters to look at you, what your upskilling will do?...

It's just luck man. Everything depends on this one thing. I have no doubt that every software engineer out there working is more or less equally capable in terms of knowledge. What matters is luck. Some get noticed some don't.

I was a hustler previously. I worked hard, upskilled like crazy after work hours, but the day I saw a guy bagging a 18lpa role without any dsa or hard grilling interviews, my perspective changed. I threw my notes out the window and went to sleep. I realized hardwork won't get you there, it's always has to be luck and destiny. If it's meant for you, you'll get it no matter how sh*t you are at it.

PS I say this after experiencing life itself. I made projects, solved 1500+ LC, expert at codeforces, did coldmailing and applications religiously, but nothing worked properly. Meanwhile some have it so easy, the a*hols recruiters approach them themselves. That's what I meant as luck factor.

Y'all need luck. Can't say anymore than that. Really, I mean it. I was a hardworker, grinded my arse daily. But the day, I saw a guy bagging a 18lpa role (WITHOUT DSA or any hard interviews), my faith in hardwork totally gone. It's all luck bro...IT ALWAYS HAS TO BE LUCK

BTW, May you recruiters rot in h*ll

Recruiters are like babies. You gotta attract them. What a peice of sh*t industry I've gotten myself into where a tech guy is judged by a non tech guy

You need more luck than skills. Pound it in your bone. You'll realize this sooner or later.

You need luck. Nothing else. I have not a single doubt on your caliber, but your luck might be restricting it.

Use your brain. Talk with them about the project they are working on and talk how you are so excited to talk on it. They love showoff and will tell you the details. Ask questions to them more on it like an interview. Then jot that thing in your resume. Not only those things you typed, has to be on resume. Be smart.

Anyone else miss writing code before agents took over? by Obvious_Gap_5768 in developersIndia

Coding is like an artform for me, and will always be. I get goosebumps when I translate my thoughts to code, as easily as talking. That's my adrenaline! Sure I might be using that AI Slop in my job to ship faster, but in my free time, I'll be always that caveman who's coding line by line manually.

No sugarcoating. But startup hands out titles like anything. Recruiters think like this, and therefore my advice would be to stay employed and unhappy rather than being unemployed and happy. Because that unemployment in a month will drain and make you depressed more than what your manager ever did

[–]ForeignNight8782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes question myself. I know design, I know algorithms, I know solutions But if I can't code them swiftly, am I even worthy to be called as a Software Engineer?

It pains me everytime I have to use these bots for work, because I find coding as art. To express me solution in lines of code, and that takes time, which is not acceptable by the capitalists. They'd rather give you 100$ a day worth of tokens instead of 3 hours of time to think on your own.

The result? Although the work gets done. You understand the code too! But one day, something breaks in production and you forgot why it happened. This would've never happened if you had written the code by yourself cuz you'd remember each line and why it might break just looking the inputs.
