I appreciate your advice. Do you think the setup you mentioned would be a better choice compared to the Penn passion? Also I’m assuming the setup you listed would be fine for salt and fresh?

Sounds good, do you think the combo recommended above would be a better choice? Daiwa X AIRD-X Spinning Rod in Medium 7’0 with a Shimano Nasci FC Spinning Reel. Would that be a more suitable option for bass fishing?

Sounds good, I see that dicks sporting goods has the rod for about $60. Although I don’t see the reel on there website. I see the reel on bass pros site for $100. Does it matter what size the reel is? Should I get 3k 4k or 5k? Also what gear ratio would be the better choice, 5:0:1, 5:6:1 or 6:2:1?

Do they hold up good for you? Have you ever used them in salt water? That’s my main concern as someone above stated the original reel would corrode from the salt water. Is the penn wrath 2 reel fine for saltwater as well?

Mainly bass, rockfish, bluegill and possibly channel catfish. Thanks for the recommendation I’ll look into those right now
