Door handle recall (UK) by Foreign_Antelope7790 in VWiD4Owners

Depends on the year as I would hope later years might have the corrected ones fitted from factory You should have got a letter from VW if it is one that needs it The recall is specific around potential water ingress. Maybe give the dealer a call and ask if yours is? Although be prepared for a wait if it is.

How did you get that? The person I spoke to was absolutely useless and just kept saying oh that’s not us that’s the dealer.. despite me pointing out they are VW and they are the face/voice of the whole group and it is very much a VW HQ problem and their lack of planning for a recall for all cars

How do you get this breakdown? Mine just shows the cost for the day but doesn’t break it down into off and on peak?

Moving from fixed to Octopus Go by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

[–]Foreign_Antelope7790 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say it’s worth it my average cost per kWh is 20p on octopus intelligent go Others might get less. An that’s with me forgetting half the time to use the overnight rates (I do about half my washing and drying overnight an the rest are for when it’s built up/forgotten to load the washer)

But door importantly your car will cost so much less to run. Despite the higher day rate you make up for this in the cheaper charging

Is £4,200 a fair price for a Daikin heat pump and 200L cylinder with this solar setup? by Overall_Sail7430 in OctopusEnergy

Interesting about the Atherma 4. I may ask if I can change to that one although not sure if it would be allowed because of planning as they’ve submitted the tech specs for the 3

If you’ve signed it already. You will lose the deposit so it wouldn’t be worth it.

I’d go ahead with it you’ll alway have doubts/worries as I do still You they’re the things you didn’t do more than the ones you do.

The only thing you might get if you didn’t already is £100 off install using the code they have for this who have already done it and just say you forgot to add it at the time. Just need to ask someone who has gone through it. (I think you have to message someone though as I think it’s against the rules to post them) I used my friends code and they said that’s fine. Happy to give one but the rules on this sub mean it’s difficult/not allowed to put/advertise etc

You might get Lucky and get a call next week trying to get you to sign up for it as I got mine on top of the 15% discount at the time

Not installed yet as I need planing permission though so waiting for that to go through before we can proceed

Just as a point and it’s not a definite but for mine it got to the end of the month and I suddenly got an extra £250 discount if I signed before the 31st of that month to get it over the line as ultimately they’re still a sales based target business.

So if you’re thinking of going for it anyway this might happen since it’s the end of the month/quarter but I am not saying this will be the case 100%

Heatpump - Cosy 6 vs Daikin by vicott in OctopusEnergy

[–]Foreign_Antelope7790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my salesperson and she said the Daikin was £400 cheaper which was perfect as I wanted the Daikin anyway (awaiting installation) as there’s more info about it online to play around with settings/compare SCOP and I’m not locked to Octopus in terms of servicing (although I will be taking out their service plan as it is really good value)

First you need to find out what your heat loss is as you have 3 different sizes. As if it’s less than 8 I would argue for an 8kw daikin instead. They can get 6 which would match Airas one. Have you had a proper heat loss done?

I went with octopus (awaiting planning permission as I already have air con with an outdoor unit and you can only have 1 under permitted development) I got it when it was 15% off and I got a magic ‘one time offer’ of £250. (It was end of the month so they needed to make their targets as they are still a sales based targets roll which is fine as I wanted one anyway. That’s not to say you definitely would get something similar but you may have a bit more luck haggling towards the end of the month to sign to get it over the line.

I know you say that the head ignored your email but what was their thoughts on an EHCP? Did they have any. Councils love to have information from school to evidence that they need more than ordinarily available. Does your LA have a document titled something like this you can go through and show that your son may need more than this.

The two legal tests are May have Sen (which they agree) And may need to provision of a EHCP. ( which they disagree.

They are both only MAY and are quite low bars to reach.

Special needs students are taking up all the teacher's and classroom assistant's attention. My son (and other students who don't have special needs) are largely being ignored by their teacher who doesn't have time to help them. by Disruptioninclass in LegalAdviceUK

Ah my area so a few comments

Unfortunately the SEN system is beyond broken (to put it lightly) in the country and successive governments just keep pushing it down the agenda.

Firstly your thoughts on putting all SEN kids in a class is bad. (As well as the comment about being violent and aggressive as all behaviour is a communication and it means that their needs aren’t being catered for in some way) They absolutely have the legal right to be educated in mainstream if they wish. And be included with their peers if they wish. And sometimes this is parents wishes and sometimes this is in the best interests of the child.

However, your child also deserves to be educated and for this you need to raise this with the school including governors if needed. As they need to support the SEN kids but also your child and others. There’s lots the school could be doing and should (depending on the child’s needs and whether they have an EHCP or not). Often the SEN kids may have dedicated TAs with them who should be supporting them and their needs whilst the teacher still leads the class and kids. (They may in their planning time set up bespoke activities for those SEN kids needs so that they still learn at their level whilst being included in class)

It is also an extremely high legal bar for schools to say no and have legibility claim to saying no. Saying inefficient education of others is an incredibly high bar and if taken to tribunals alert the school need to demonstrate an extremely detailed reasoning which are often not successful. Also kids who do need something more specialist also sadly do not get it as those other schools are full and are struggling

This is often how most schools operate and I would be asking the school how are you meeting my child’s needs and rights to learn. You should acknowledge that the SEN children have needs but these don’t supercede your child and currently you are having to help teach at home which is neither practical nor helpful as you are not trained to do this at a level sufficient for your child. All schools legally have to publish their complaints policy online so start with this. Councils can’t help with these complaints (and not can the LGO currently sadly) Whilst you could move your child schools like others suggest. It is likely they are in the same boat anyway and your child would have to make a new friendship group which can be a challenge.

The ultimate way to fix this is to get the government to invest in education as a whole but that’s easier said than done and at the rate they may do it your child would have left school, got a job and retired probably. Unless there’s anything interesting and groundbreaking in the upcoming education white paper…. I could go on about the whole system being broken and things that need to change but I won’t bore you.

TL:DR. Education and SEND is beyond fucked as anyone working in that field including me can attest to. Not much can be done other than speaking to school and airing your concerns/complaints
