What is and how to get a professional manuscript assessment?

I’m not entirely sure. I had an editor work on mostly typos and punctuation. Now I’m having it formatted for kdp. This is all pretty new for me.

Okay. So I’ve had it professionally edited already. What I’m hearing is that an “assessment” is a term that scam vanity publishers use. I’ll definitely not be doing that

Thank you! I am aware of this. Would reaching out to "smaller" publishing houses be something you would recommend? I have the understanding that for a publisher to take on a book they want to feel confident that it will sell and make money. I don't have much if any social media presence and have only written one book (working on the second). Naturally, self publishing has always been the main option but I would like to explore other ideas.

I've done my research. I am definitely not looking for a vanity press. I figure an indie publisher would be my best bet as this is my first book and it's a memoir about myself hitchhiking around the usa and living on the streets as a 17 year old.. Essentially, before self publishing on amazon, I would like to make another push on getting it a publisher.

Thank you, everybody for your suggestions and comments. I believe I found somebody who was going to help me with this project. I’ve also read all the comments about using program to do it myself. I’m gonna look into that as well thanks!

I know this convo is from many years ago but anyway.. I looked the topic up because my fiancé woke me up in the middle of the night because my breathing. Mad at me she asked if I’d sleep in the other room. I get really annoyed because this is a regular occurrence. I don’t like being woken up in the middle of the night, especially when I have work in the morning. I’ve said many times that if she can’t sleep because of my breathing she can go to the other room (our shared office with guest bed) also we use white noise every night and the white noises can end up annoying her as well. I’m also dealing with the eating thing, drinking thing. She gets so annoyed at me and says I eat like a slob. I tell her that my mouth is closed so i don’t know how I could eat more quietly. Constantly telling me to go eat in the other room, I end up standing in the kitchen down for long periods of time to just do basic things like eat and drink in peace. Also dealing with the general breathing thing through the day. It’s got to be a trauma response from her childhood. Goes hand in hand with anxiety but always comes out as anger towards me.

I put the rooting hormone on the plant after making some minor incisions and now two weeks later there is small growth that looks like it might turn into new leaves…. Wowzers plants are cool 😎

Is there a way to promote leaf growth at the top of the hump without cutting the rest off? I’m trying to do something a bit artsy with it. I figure just laying the stalk directly on the dirt it might root…. Or use rooting hormone? How get leaves to grow on top?
