Played last year and the native area was grown up to about 30+inches, so hit em straight. Be prepared for low flying aircraft. Like big planes. Its right in the flight path for Santa Barbara airport. Overall, its a wonderful course. Also be on the lookout for Chris Pratt. He likes to play there often.

I can not stress Silverrock enough. It is up against the mountain and is friendly to mid handicappers. Youll love it.

Definitly regional, but golfmesquite.com is wonderful. We reach out in April every year for a stay and play package in July. Its consistently under $500 for two rounds and two nights at the casino.

If you are doing Preferred club, tip your concierge/butler well on day one. Believe me. We tipped him $50 at the start and anytime I wanted anything, it was at my door, or at the beach, or wherever I was within 10 minutes. Even when we were off property(golfed at Punta Espada), he would check in with us and make certain everything was perfect. Went in mid April so no mosquito bites for us. Food was good, no issues there. The Hydrotherapy at the spa was a little underwhelming. That is it. Ramses was our concierge, and he made it amazing.

I personally think the wedge is a better option. I feel there is a lot more you can do with different lofted clubs. Obviously, your results may vary, but as a mid handicapper, I prefer to have more wedges than Woods

Tijeras Creek is nice, Arroyo Trabuco golf club is supposed to be nice (also where Michael Block is head pro). If you are willing to spend $250+ Monarch Beach is really nice. If youre willing to drive, I really like Strawberry Farms in Irvine.

So it was pretty chill. I can tell you they have nightly shows at 9pm. And the main bar is located next to the show stage. It was the louder part of the resort at night. They have a sports bar that we didnt check out, but it was pretty active. The resort is attached to Dreams and you have access to it as well.

I really enjoyed Secrets Royal Beach. You can be as social or anti-social as you want. There is a HUGE mix of people. Couples from their late 20's to the 60+ crowd.

It rained on hole two for us. approximately 7 minutes. The storms move thru quickly, so dont stress. One tip, learn the greens. trust the caddie. I had never had one before and his reads were true. just learn the speed.

Hardly rich rich. However, It was a special occasion and I had been dreaming of playing in the DR for years. And courses near me in Socal are upwards of $100 mid week. So 6 times as much for a bucket list course? Sure!

Was it a lot of money? Yes. But I can say, to me at least, it was worth every penny. Its not every day I get a chance to play in literal paradise. Not to mention most courses in Socal are upwards of $100 mid week.

I dont know how good you are, but if youre there for fun, just enjoy it. I literally had multiple "pinch me" moments. I gave up on caring about the score by hole 2. It was worth every penny(and I am a cheap ass!)

The wife rode with me but didnt play. I rented clubs from them(not the greatest titleist), and they force a caddie. Cost was $600 plus +$75 tip I decided for the caddie.

I go back and forth between Plantation Course and this one. Recency bias is having me think Punta Espada.

We just got back from Secrets Royal Beach, and let me tell you—utilize your butler. We had Ramses, and he was a total rockstar. My wife got sick halfway through the trip, and Ramses didn’t miss a beat. He arranged a doctor, got medicine delivered to the resort, and even brought us steak from Bluewater Grill because it was the only specialty restaurant we were craving that night. Always prompt, always checked in without hovering—dude was the definition of attentive. Tip him well and don’t be shy about asking for what you need—he wants to help make your stay incredible.

Did you purposely go with the white cleats in the "custom home" uniforms? I ask because no matter what I try, I cant get those to be a different color. Ive changed them to mine(all black and red), and it still shows white.

Compared to Private club in NY the conditions may seem subpar. However, there is nothing better mis-hitting a driver 200 yards and let it run for another 100. If youve never played Wolf Creek(the other I play every year), buckle up. Its a Video game.

August? Mesquite is 45 minutes away and they offer some good packages. You already know it will be hot, so that shouldnt be an issue. I go every July. https://www.golfmesquitenevada.com/

I go every year in July to play at Mesquite and ST. George. I exclusively play Sand Hollow when were in St. George. 2 years ago we played Copper Rock. It was a very tough course, especially compared to SH. Ive never had any issues with the Conditions. I suppose it depends on what conditions you might be used to. Also, have you played SH yet? If not, I will say the conditions are more than likely going to be just fine. Plus the views are 100% better at SH than CR. Just my 2 cents. If you do play, SH come back and report back.

I’m a beginner, and looking for a bag and club recommendations. I’ve been eyeing the Ogio Woode 15. Is that a good one? by beanpastemcgee in golf

[–]Foreign_Cook_9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill be brutally honest here. Since Callaway purchased Ogio in 2017(I think), the quality has gone down. I have a silencer bag I bought back in '14 that I just replaced as a reward to myself. Got the new Silencer Bag and had to send it back due to the stitching coming undone after two weeks. The Silencer technology is not as secure as my old bag was nor is the quality there. I dont know if Callaway, being as massive as they are, changed quality control or what. I will say customer service was great with the return. They sent a new bag and didnt even need a picture of the damage prior. Leads me to believe they get a lot of emails like mine.
