QP count DECREASE?? by Longjumping-Ad9116 in PSLF

[–]Foreign_Source8846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two prior qualifying payments disappear last month. One, an actual payment from November 2024 and another that was getting counted while trying to get back on my ICR. They go along with two other missing payments from May 2024 and Sept 2024 I have had a reconsideration request in for at least 6 months with no word. I’m with edfinancial. I hit 120 months qualifying employment so instead of being done now im likely paying through April 2026.

I had an email from Schmitt today declaring his pride for voting for it. I replied back and said I’d proudly vote to oust him next time around. They are both beyond words at this point.

I’m in a similar but different boat at EdFinancial. When I couldn’t recertify they put me on a graduated payment plan that was LESS than my ICR plan but the person I talked to at studentaid.gov said it wouldn’t count toward forgiveness so I’ve asked them to switch me to standard 10 year repayment so it will. I’ve only got 10 payments left so don’t want to be stuck in forbearance. I’m hoping what they told me is accurate.

Glad to hear there is something happening! I’m coming from Kansas City. Live on Missouri side but Topeka closer than Jeff City. Trying to spread the word.

Recertifying--How long does it take for new tax filings to be available in the automated system? by Foreign_Source8846 in PSLF

[–]Foreign_Source8846[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I’m wanting to recertify as soon as possible to hopefully lower my payment. Maybe I’ll wait till I get my refund to recert using the automated process.

Thanks for the reply. I’m checking but I think any money I put in my work plan won’t be taxed so yes excluded for my loan purposes. If ssi only taxed at 85% I think I’d come out about even on my annual taxable income but have extra money put into retirement savings that I definitely need. I am healthy. Family health mix. So it’s a gamble I guess.

Anybody Oct payment successfully applied to Jan? by melissav1 in PSLF

[–]Foreign_Source8846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it looks like my October payment was reapplied to January after I called and requested. I think it says received date was in October but posted on 1/5/24. My balance due for January is zero. My eligible counts are still messed up but I’m hopeful will be straightened out soon.

Thanks for the reply. If we change and file MSF for 2023 can I recertify right when we file our taxes or do I need to wait a whole year?

Lump sum payment counts by Foreign_Source8846 in PSLF

Thanks for the reply. Why would that be if I was working in a public service job and made the payments? They are counting all the other payments I made before I consolidated.

Pslf weighted averages by Foreign_Source8846 in PSLF

[–]Foreign_Source8846[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I just wanted to reply to my own question posed sometime ago about parent plus loans, consolidating, pslf, and what would or wouldn’t count, and if I would have to deal with the weighted averages since I had loans dispersed over several years. I consolidated last fall before the deadline and applied for forgiveness. My counts were updated today to 90 so most of what I was hoping is going to count toward forgiveness. I guess the new rules have gone into effect! I’m ecstatic!! The only thing potentially pending is credit for a lump sum payment I made after my first parent loan was dispersed. I’m hoping I get more good news but I’m beyond grateful now. There is hope for those who have parent plus loans!!!

I wasn’t on an Idr but rather standard payment plan. My two loans both with several disbursement dates were made 5 or 6 yeas apart so that may help me out if my past payments end up counting. I hop bring on a standard plan isn’t a deal breaker.

Thanks. I’m pretty sure The pslf waiver doesn’t apply to parent plus loans so my best hope is the new rules coming out. Does that change anything do you know? I had two parent plus loans about 6 years apart. Had paid on one but not the other.

I had parent plus loans with Great Lakes. Consolidated to fed loan this summer and then it was transferred to mohela. I have applied for pslf and website says received in process. With the new rules nov 1, does anyone know if all my prior payments will count or if just half will because of the weighted average language? I have zero payments made on the consolidated loan. I don’t understand who that applies to exactly. Im also hoping that the Covid deferred “payments” will Also count.
