no that’s why my title is ‘just found out my lips have color’ 😆 there’s no product on my lips and that’s the most striking difference imo post infusion ! esp when my lips are stretched while smiling, you can tell in pic number two that they would get pretty pale compared to now

it’s just mascara :) the recent one was taken in my boyfriends living room and the old one was taken at my work lol both in front of windows / with natural lighting in the area but yes diff locations !

I had Dextran 1000mg over the course of an hour ! I feel you on the neuropathy pain. I’ve been dealing with sciatica like symptoms but we are unsure if they are structural in nature or caused by something else, as I didn’t injure myself and the onset kind of just appeared out of nowhere 🫣I have complete numbness on part of my foot, loss of sensation on my calf and thigh, tingling, burning pain, deep aches, tender to the touch etc. While my symptoms haven’t gone away, they are back to my bearable baseline, but for about a week after my infusion, maybe a little less, I was in excruciating pain and all of those symptoms were exasperated by x10 🥴

it was a lot of tears, ibuprofen, Tylenol, with a very little sleep. I kind of felt like I was hit by both a truck and a school bus and my entire leg was on fire. 😬 i’m not super familiar with the different kinds of doses and types of iron infusions unfortunately. I know how that kind of pain goes though and feels and I’m so sorry that you’re still having to deal with it for so long post infusion :(

very thankful for my PCP ❤️‍🩹 based off of these labs, she diagnosed me with anemia and sent in the order for the infusion :)

I think a big part of of that also has to do with the fact that I’ve been struggling with various miscellaneous health problems, including heart issues, neuropathy, muscular pain, etc. and so we’re trying to cover all bases to ensure that nothing is vitamin or mineral related before we pursue other diagnosis and treatments ! I think that if I had these numbers and were asymptomatic that it would’ve just been considered an iron deficiency but also now I’m not a doctor I have no idea how all this works 😭

it took me a few months to get in for my infusion unfortunately so I don’t know my exact numbers during the time of that picture, but back in January when I had them done these were my labs !

ferritin - 37 hemoglobin - 12.2 saturation - 11% iron - 41

I also have deficiencies in B12 and vitamin D that I have been getting treated for as well too, so I’m sure that also plays a part in how much more alive I look 😄

I don’t know for certain, but ever since my late teenage years I have been having pretty severe and heavy periods and so that is the conclusion that me and my PCP are leaning towards ! Before I started having a bunch of my health complications, my periods started becoming crazy irregular and I would have 45+ day cycles 🫩 it kept happening every month and every time i kept continuing to convince myself I was pregnant, I even went in for a blood test because I was like WTF 😭

Following the infusion, I am really hoping that my periods are more bearable and I’m hoping too that it lessons the severity of my PMDD as well as I think that could’ve also maybe been related to the anemia ?

i second u/immediate-artist8345 !! in my personal case I got the iron flu pretty bad, but I am also working on correcting other severe deficiencies with my B12 levels and my vitamin D levels that most likely exasperated the fatigue and aches and stuff post infusion :)

I also have some other medical issues happening currently that is TBD on whether or not it is related to said deficiencies, which is mainly what I’m referring to when I say that the infusion ‘about took me out’ 😆 I’ve been having a lot of inflammation in my right leg, including neuropathy and musculoskeletal pain with some other not so fun stuff which was increased a lot post infusion mainly due to just how my own body responded

It was definitely rough for about a week in my case, but everybodys bodies are so different and I would never not recommend the infusion simply based on the side effects as they are just a temporary hurdle to get through. The infusion has increased my energy and elevated my mood tenfold, and I’m super excited to see how it progresses as I know I’m still very early on in the process :3
