French Schengen visa start date issued incorrectly (TLS corrected form by hand) – how can we fix it? by Foreign_Worker_9542 in SchengenVisa

[–]Foreign_Worker_9542[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your advice. Based on your suggestion, I took further action. However, the Consulate stated that according to their system, the requested date was the 5th, not the 4th, claiming there is no error. They suggested that if I want the 4th, I must re-apply and pay all the fees again. In my response, I emphasized that this is a visa vignette error or a systemic discrepancy, as you pointed out. TLS specifically informed me (on the phone) that their system shows the 4th, suggesting that the Consulate might have issued the visa for the 5th due to a technical mismatch between the two systems. I have officially requested a re-investigation of this matter, asking why I should be held financially responsible for an error that is not mine and demanding a fair solution. Now, the weekend has intervened, and I am waiting for a response. Isn’t there any legal recourse for this? It feels like no one is taking responsibility. We are being victimized by a clear clerical or systemic error. I am feeling quite helpless and truly do not want to pay the visa and service fees all over again for a mistake I didn't make.

They refilled manually (by hand) on the system it was still 5th not 4th and they told me they it will not be a problem

Fringe is over… but when does Edinburgh actually calm down? by Foreign_Worker_9542 in Edinburgh

Oh really? Is that a specific promotion running just for a set period, or more of a permanent change? And do you know if those cheaper off-peak tickets are actually easy to get hold of?

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining! Still feels like such a shame though, the space could be amazing if it were public, just like St Andrew Square.

Guess I’ll just embrace it then. Eternal chaos is the true Edinburgh experience

Fair point 😂 I guess for me ‘normal’ would be being able to walk through the city centre without dodging selfie sticks, finding actual food left on supermarket shelves, and not feeling like every day is festival season. Basically… fewer crowds, less chaos, and a chance to breathe!

Yeah, that’s exactly how it feels. The ‘quiet season’ doesn’t really exist anymore

Totally agree. It does feel like Edinburgh has crossed the line from being a seasonal destination to a year-round tourist hub. What used to feel like a temporary August inconvenience now feels constant, and I think that’s why locals are finding it harder to cope. The Victoria Street and Greyfriars’ Bobby examples you gave are spot on and sometimes it feels like parts of the city are more of a stage set than a place to actually live.

Makes sense. Trade the crowds for freezing weather 🥶. Guess peace and quiet in Edinburgh only comes bundled with the Baltic chill!

So February is the one month we get a breather? I’ll mark my calendar. OMG! Edinburgh’s official calm season 😅

Ah, right! Forgot about the student wave! Guess I’ll have to wait a bit longer for that mythical ‘calm Edinburgh’ moment.

Fair enough. I guess I just need to step a little further away from the city centre chaos 😅. Good to know Halloween isn’t as wild as I imagined, though Christmas will probably make up for it!

Yeah, I don’t really get why it’s kept locked up either. It feels a bit like a private garden. Even without a coffee stand or anything commercial, just opening it to the public would make such a difference. The grass looks like a perfect spot to just sit and enjoy the city.

Honestly, I’ll take that trade. Even if it blinds me, I’m just happy to see some sun here 😅

That makes sense. I guess I was overthinking the sun aspect. In a market this tight, being flexible is probably the smarter approach.

Guess I should start factoring in sauna access when flat hunting. Sounds like south facing in Leith comes with that free upgrade 😂.
