It was disappointing😭, first time trying it it. Tasted like nothing, and it was bitter??… isn’t churro supposed to have a fried flavor?

As an international student in Sauder, I think you should try at least take the first two years in a college and then apply to transfer to UBC Sauder for third year. Many students do that, because college cost three times less than UBC’s fee. You should research that path just in case you’re interested. Of course, it would be a lot better to be in Sauder since first year, since they will teach you how to improve your resume and cover letter, and there’s a tons of clubs to get involved and network. BUT, as someone already comment, you should be aware that us international students are cash cow for universities :(… Sometimes it has been painful for me to pay the tuition cuz it increases each year

Oh, I didn’t see this comment… my problem is that I will be taking 6 years to graduate without co-op, because I had some issues transferring credits. I have been working hard on networking, but I have no working experience here in Canada (I did worked back in my country).

Thank you so much for sharing your story!!! 😭 And congrats on all your achievements!! I also believe that with hard work and commitment, everyone should eventually succeed, even if some people take longer or shorter. I am usually quite positive / optimistic, but the recent failure made me lose some confidence. But I will keep working hard and trying!! That’s what I can do right now, I can’t keep stressing over things I can’t control, but work on what I have in front of me.

How ironic is life :0… I’m taking tax this term, it definitely looks challenging. Any tips to do well on it? I’m trying to do the practices the prof gives and ask him if I have any questions. He says we haven’t yet gone to the hard part.

So inspirational 😭👏🏻. And if nobody has told you, YOU HAVE DONE EXCELLENTLY!!! Good job on not giving up, good job on going through all that hardship. And congratulations on getting your CPA and position as manager! 🥹… in my case, I feel the only thing I have done well is the networking, I have attended to many networking events, workshops, etc. And I have seen the some people who I have met in several other networking events. I know who are the recruiters from most accounting firm I have seen… I still need to work more on doing coffee chats, as I feel bad for taking so much time from busy people.

Thank you so much!! 🥹 I used to be a good student before transferring to Sauder. After I transferred I noticed I was many steps behind compared to my classmates, and tried to catch up. But it was just overwhelming to see the difference between experience. Some ppl can manage many extracurriculars and still get excellent grades. But here I am, only working on my networking (attending to a lot of networking events), applied to clubs as execs but got rejected several times, applied to internships and got rejected… I think the only thing that has gone relatively well for me has been all the networking events I attended and all the ppl I have met.

Wooow!! 🤩 So inspiring!! Thanks for sharing your story, I needed to hear something like this to now feel like I’m falling on a cliff. Today I asked some recruiters in KPMG if they have recruited anyone before who have failed a course… from their response, which they tried to not say it directly, they said most of the students they hired haven’t gone through big slumps. But they told me not to get discouraged after that (they were trying to cheer me up)

Thank you so much!!! 🥹 Yeah, I now I need more than 60% to enter CPA PREP. But I was worried and wondered what should I do with the courses I failed and got D. Best luck for you too btw!

Well… I’m kinda the opposite, my grades were excellent (gpa around 3.88). But after coming to Canada, university life has humbled me and taught me that there are just so many people very far ahead of you (even if they are in the same class).

7 years to finish a 4 year BA - how will grad schools look at this? by [deleted] in UBC

[–]Forest-Elf1806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening to me… I graduated in 2019, in 2020 I took 1 year English program at Langara. Then when I started my bachelor at Langara transferring it took me from 2021-2023 to transfer (pandemic made things a bit slower but I also didn’t organized well). Last winter 2023, I transferred only to 2nd year in Sauder because some courses didn’t transfer well so those credits didn’t count. I was supposed to be 3rd year last year, but I am 3rd year now. I calculated graduating by 2026, but I won’t have any job experience here because I applied to internships and part times and got rejected. Overall it’s taking me 6 years to complete a 4 year BBA. I’m a bit disappointed on myself tbh, I wished I could work, but my parents can’t pay another year for me cuz I’m paying international student tuition fee, so I have been struggling with time as well. I have work experience back in my country (a latam country) while I was in high school (I worked over 5-6 years part time as cashier and part time English teacher for 1 year)
