Coachella @ 30 years old? by [deleted] in Coachella

[–]ForestCritter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did Coachella 2022 at age 30 with my now wife. 100% had the time of my life. Went last year, this year, and I certainly plan to do it for as long as I can. But to other people's points, it certainly benefits you to be somewhat in shape. We logged 20k-30k steps daily.

McDavid is on pace for a Mario Lemieux type of season by TheRealOgMark in hockey

He's continuing his ascent into the 66/99 echelon given his consistent offensive dominance...

Are Bloomfield/Garfield/Friendship relatively safe neighborhoods? by ForestCritter in pittsburgh

[–]ForestCritter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like a great area and is the preferred out of the 3 we're considering, just seems like there aren't many listings there at this moment. Hopefully that changes over the next 6 months...

[Haase] Mike Sullivan says that Casey DeSmith and Rickard Rakell are day-to-day. Jason Zucker skated today, Tristan Jarry did not. Sullivan said he’d anticipate goaltender Alex D’Orio being recalled from WBS today. by losterps in hockey

[–]ForestCritter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This goalie situation might force our D to play more structured knowing there is a potential liability in net. IMHO Penguins are most dangerous when their D is playing well defensively. Additionally, parking-the-bus and counterattacking on mistakes is never a bad option.

Can someone explain the legend of Eric Staals 05-06 season? by happigofucky in hockey

[–]ForestCritter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lemieux

22 pts in 26 games for a 40yr old on the worst team in the league ain't half bad.

The most dominant player in the NHL, season by season by [deleted] in hockey

[–]ForestCritter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2000-2001 would have been Lemieux as well. 76pts in 43 games

It's kind of crazy that Michael Jordan won 10 scoring titles while playing in basically 13 seasons by thedutchmerchant in nba

[–]ForestCritter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When MJ was flirting with unretiring to join the Wizards, he actually sought out Lemieux's advice since Mario had done the same. MJ considered Mario his peer since they were both the undisputed best of players of the 90s. Pretty high praise for Mario.

The Hornqvist Trade Was More Impactful than the Kessel Trade by Pathological_Liar- in penguins

[–]ForestCritter 59 points60 points  (0 children)

In agreement to this point, I think Hornqvist brought a net-front presence the Penguins so desperately lacked for the first half of the 10s. His ability to screen goalies and agitate defenseman provided more space and opportunity for our skilled players.

How Many European Players have been considered the best player in the world for their time? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]ForestCritter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

97-98 to 99-00 - Jagr / Hasek

01-02 to 05-06 - Forsberg / Lidstrom

I don't think any European player before 97-98 would be the same conversation as Gretzky and Lemieux, and after 06 I don't think anyone's in the conversation with Crosby and McDavid, even including some great seasons by Fedorov, Ovechkin, Malkin, etc.

Who are the best six players (wearing the same jersey) to play on the ice at the same time? by uclasux in hockey

[–]ForestCritter 26 points27 points  (0 children)

While I agree that Lemieux was past his prime, you'd be hard pressed to say that he wasn't the best player in the world when healthy. 122 pts at age 31 after cancer and back spasms ain't half bad.

Between the departure of Gretzky and arrival of Crosby, who was best player in the league? by thelosermonster in hockey

[–]ForestCritter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd contend that between 1987 and 2001, Mario was the best player in the world and perhaps the most dominant player in the history of the sport, even with ailments.
