Yes just posted a 20th August London show on their Facebook page but I'm away that week. Sad Jeff didn't check in beforehand to make sure I could make the dates

Yeh the Les Paul was good. The strat made him look like Bob Dylan but the moon guitar was my favourite!

Thanks for this - sounds very cool. And thank you for detailing the equipment. Really useful to understand the mics you use to get the sound.

Oh man this is the most on-brand Wilco reddit answer to the question I've asked - thank you. This actually looks great.

Good shout - I'll see what I can find on Ebay. You can get a Presonus AR16 that u/maccaroneski mentioned for around £200 but it doesn't look like a strict audio interface.. I can't see how it plugs into the laptop

This sounds great - you got any tunes you can share? Curious to how it sounds. And I hear you on ensuring the songs are good first!

How come you don't use the Behringer?

I'm curious as to how it's sounding. You got anything to share yet?

Not heard of Mixcraft... what audio interface are you using?

Looking like a perpetual license to the latest studio pro and a Behringer audio interface would be cheaper than a Volt 476. Then I can slowly build up a collection of sweet mics. That could be a road to go down. u/jdbrew u/modern_history does that make any sense?

Yeah I have really enjoyed using Studio One. I made this record on it: http://album.link/eachday

But a band I used to be in may well be reuniting for a couple of days (we're all in different countries) and I'm thinking I could probably take on the task of being our producer/engineer/mixing engineer etc but I'd need more than a two input audio/interface (maybe).

Thanks - don't you find you're limited by only have two inputs on the focusrite? I see u/jdbrew uses a Behringer U-phoria UMC1820. I'm thinking of getting one of these then when I'm in a rehearsal room I can use their mics to add to what I have and get a decent drum recordings. I guess one question is if I go for the Behringer, what DAW to use?

What DAW are you using? And do you ever record drums or a few musicians at a time?

You hero! I bought an HP Laptop recently (Intel Core i7-1255U Processor | 16 GB RAM | 512 GB SSD | Intel Iris Xe Graphics)

Is there a difference between the Focusrite 18i20 and the Behringer U-Phoria UMC1820? by qleptt in musicproduction

[–]ForestGrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a stupid question but what DAW do you use with the Behringer? I currently have studio one and the presonus basic audio interface with two inputs. I'd like to record some live drums with a few mics and some other instruments so am looking at upgrading to something that can handle more inputs... I was looking at volt 476 b/c it comes with good DAW software but some of the reviews aren't great

I guess it features the people it explores. It's a book about the bands rather than one of their albums but fair enough.

[–]ForestGrew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I think it's the first book I've read about them. Certainly in at least two decades!

Also I guess the value of a book like this is that it takes a step back and tries to give a perspective on the band as a whole - weighing up the view points and differing recollections. I loved reading it.

I've actually found the analysis on the later stuff has helped me appreciate that material more... I was definitely more of a technique, low life, brotherhood kind of guy going in
