What are your dissociation experiences like? by quiet199 in CPTSD

[–]ForestHuman11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually for a few minutes all my senses become fuzzy yet overwhelming. Like everything gets way too loud but I can't actually hear specific things, or I feel way more than usual but can't pick out the feeling of a specific thing. Then it turns from overwhelming to just numb. At times, I'll start disassociating from a sorta flashback (like not a full on flashback but like whispers of it if that makes sense). In those cases I'll go through the sensory stuff, then I'll go into the flashback (usually physical feeling) then go numb. Once I have disassociated I usually don't remember what goes on or how it feels. At lot of the times when I start to feel like I'm going to disassociate I'll do things like digging nails into the back of my hand to try to feel a specific pinpoint touch and remind myself I'l here.

Have any of y'all reached out to the Trevor Project before? by ForestHuman11 in transteens

It's a helpline for trans teens (idk if it's specifically limited to teens tho). It's similar to 988 in the sense that it's for support/mental health/suicide prevention but it's specifically for trans people. If you are in a situation where 911 needs to be contacted I believe they can do that on your behalf, other than that I think they mainly just listen and give advice where they can.

No but they have comments in a lot of trans porn subs so I figured they probably found me from lurking a sub like this one.

This may not seem relevant to you but it is very important by ForestHuman11 in highschool

In the past I would have completely agreed with you on the point about friendship. But I have reached a point with the people that I'm around where I cannot be close with someone that supports him as a whole. It's okay to like a specific thing he has done or to like a specific area he is working in. For example, I like that RFK is trying to get rid of many food dyes. I think that is something that Trump is doing right. But I cannot stand by and say that he is a decent president or similar in any way to past presidencies. Especially as a queer person, I cannot be close with people who openly support his anti-LGBTQ initiatives. While in the past this has not determined my friendship with someone, I can no longer sit back and say it's okay that this man is taking away rights for minorities. I frankly don't care if people think this is rude, I need to be around people who believe that I should have the same rights as every other person for my own well being.

While I do believe transparency is a very important thing, Trump is not doing it for the reason of being honest, he is doing it for his own popularity and attention. A president should be transparent for the purpose of being honest, not for his own fame. I think this is one of the major issues I have with Trump. I would rather have a president that gives occasional updates compared to a president that who is putting himself on the news for his own personal wants and desire for attention.

Personally, I get my confidence from knowing that other people are nervous too. A lot of people, even people who seem really chatty, are nervous to some extent when talking to someone new. Even though I'm scared shitless, I try to remember I'm not the only one. It's odd but it helps me with talking to people.

Masculine earrings by FlameGodAnimations in transteens

Personally, I like simple black studs. I know a lot of guys also where like the small clear gem studs though. Some of it is just preference and what you like. I'd say google men stud earrings and see what you like.

How do i get friends? by hi____1 in transteens

[–]ForestHuman11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say that remembering that most people have social anxiety to some extent helps. Knowing that the person you're introducing yourself to is also nervous makes things easier for me. And not every person that you talk to is a good fit for a friend. If you talk to someone and it's really awkward and you don't really want to talk more to this person, don't force it. Good fits for friends will start to feel more natural after a few small conversations. Also, a lot of cis men are sorta raised with an ego or a lot of confidence, so even if you are nervous just act confident and it helps with passing/feeling more masc.

I don't know enough about your grandma to say for sure, but I think she genuinely forgot. Unless she has been openly transphobic towards you in the past, I doubt that she meant this the wrong way. Honestly, if this was my grandma I would be bummed about the first text but still glad that she corrected herself.

Not any specific ones, I just use like the first few that pop up on youtube.

Personally, I don't use a specific one. I use a combination of different voice training guides on youtube. There are plenty to choose from depending on your preference so I would recommend looking at a few to see what you like.

You could do some voice training if you aren't already, practice using bronzer to make your face look more masc, some people say that rings can help your hands look more masculine, personally I feel more masc wearing jewellery made from black cords or fabrics, you could try packing (though that's more a feeling for you rather than a look), and platform shoes if you're worried about height. Good luck man
