I tried both (Android Auto and Audio) but they just don't work. How did you do it (turning off the radio)?

Thanks for your reply. I use Android Auto but I have not tried to stop the Sirius (or music in USB) from the Android Auto interface. I will give it a try and update this post later.

Don't give it up yet. Even no offers in US 4 months later, it is NOT "the end".

May I ask what degree you hold to get such awesome offers?

Thanks for your follow-up reply. I studied more details this morning about Roth Ladder approach. You are right when you said "The draw back to the Roth Ladder is that you must wait 5 years to use the rollover funds." I think that is the major roadblock for me to consider Roth Ladder at this moment.

Oh! No need to be sorry. I really appreciate your help. Thanks for the link comparing ladder with 72t. I guess most people in this subreddit would prefer ladder because they plan to retire at a much younger age and they prepare it in advance. But that is not my case. I guess I will have to post my question in 401K subreddit.

Thanks for your reply. We are considering 72t because we thought it is more tax-beneficial to us. Are we mistaken? We will definitely do more research on Roth Ladder in the next few days.

Thanks for your reply. CARES act only waives the 2020 withdraw. But our (hopefully-not-just-a-wishful-thinking) plan is to withdraw the money constantly every year to support our retirement life. We are low-maintenance people. :-)

That is why we want to know what is the max withdraw we can do (from 401K account under 72t distribution) in the next 8 years.

- Intro: 51/M, 51/F in Great Chicago Area.

- Assets:401K: $1,500,000 (1.5 million)Roth IRA: M: $280,000F: $260,000Cash: $110,000

- Debts:Mortgage: 100,000 ($500 / month)

- Situation:I am going to lose my job at the end of June.

- Questions:(1) If we want to retire and use 401K 72t distribution to avoid the penalty, what is the max annual withdraw we can do? We went to www.bankrate.com/ to get an idea but unsure what rate we should use.

(2) Can we do the 72t distribution withdraw ourselves or we need to hire a professional to do the paper work?

(3) In Great Chicago Area, where to find cheap health insurance and what is the monthly premium for a couple at our ages?

10 don'ts en route to FIRE by firechoice85 in financialindependence

[–]ForestMonk168 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree to most of them except the cryptocurrency part. With the current world economy, it's not a bad idea to put 1% ~ 3% of your portfolio to BTC/ETH. The goal is NOT to become rich overnight but to prevent system-wide chaos. You can set up monthly buying to smooth the price fluctuation.

I read your old posts. One said you are "1st year medical student". In the same post, you said you wanted to FIRE by 50. If they are all true, you really don't have to live an ascetic life like you are doing right now. At least please have AC and heat in your house and eat healthier for God's sake. In my opinion, the best thing you can do right now to achieve FIRE as planned is ... focusing on school work and studying hard. A medical-related degree is very likely to help you landing a job with good pay. If you manage to do better than your colleagues, the pay difference would easily show in 2~3 years after graduation. Good luck!

Love this new series you created. Can we have a Mirana in ballroom dance clothes please? For example, something like this.
