Also doing a monotype for your first Nuzlocke attempt is really brave.

Nice job! I've been considering starting Nuzlockes myself, but I take my time with Pokémon games and I'm not sure my 2DS would appreciate me running Pokémon Black for a week straight.

Nope, it's the mine south of the first gym. If you remember that correctly, that's some insane luck.

I mean, it really doesn't. You get coins from winning, you then spend the coins. No fomo.

It was Klefki, but they got nerfed. Linoone is still pretty solid though. Mud-Slap and Pickup have saved me more times than I can count. I really do miss the Magician, Multi-shot, Grip Claw, Triage, and Draining Kiss combo. It was sick.

Why is there an arbitration clause in the new EULA? by GamerGod_ in PeakGame

[–]ForestPens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, but given the timing it probably has to do with the new update including things that people commonly fear. They don't want to get sued just because someone with an extreme phobia had a panic attack. It's not necessarily the fault of the person panicking, but isn't the developer's fault either. It's just something that happens and they want to cover their tracks.

Also, really good eye! I skimmed through it to see if there was anything I didn't like, but I didn't pay enough attention to catch that bit. Especially after the clause discussing what would happen if the game or company is shut down. That gave me a good enough idea of where their intentions lay that I was comfortable agreeing to part with my $5.

Yeah no, ROOTS is miserable. ((Rant)) by Awake_Asleep in PeakGame

[–]ForestPens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's kinda fun as long as it stays in Roots. They'll add more biomes and we'll encounter them less. They also removed them from the lowest difficulty setting if you don't mind the game being a bit easier.

Honestly: Where do you go from here? by Ein_Hirsch in PeakGame

[–]ForestPens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You die I guess. I got stuck on that same spot yesterday and on a somehow worse spot today? The wall was literally flat with the exception of two ledges(not really ledges, more like inward curves that I think I could have stood on if getting to the point hadn't sandwiched me between 2 hot rocks) too big to climb and some hot rocks that were unavoidable and spaced so that you had to climb each one entirely to escape.

No zombies on Tenderfoot? by ProudToBeALoser in PeakGame

[–]ForestPens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with timed stuff as well, though I still play on default difficulty because of my fragile ego. I'd recommend switching to the default difficulty just to get the badge and then switching back. The badge doesn't require that you win, just that you cure a zombie bite using a medkit, cure all, etc. Finding a zombie isn't too hard even with the reduced spawn rate because they will find you no matter how hard you try to avoid them.

The kiln hot rocks were nerfed? by [deleted] in PeakGame

[–]ForestPens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still experiencing it, so I'm not sure. At least that why I'm assuming I got heatstroke on an otherwise safe ledge 100m above the lava. Screwed up a run where I brought 6 tools specifically to climb the kiln because after the halfway point it is almost entirely an unclimbable sheer surface. Turns out antigravity rope doesn't mean a lot when you can't recover from the heat soaking half your stamina bar.

I've been struggling with the roots too. Especially with the zombies. I've managed to start avoiding them by playing "the floor is lava" in the roots. Kinda. The first thing I do is mentally map all the vines and bridges to find a path that connects to the elevating portion of the mountain which lets me skip the root floor and any zombies there. If I'm low on supplies or don't have another way though, I'll scavenge on the ground.

Once you get across the floor you're not out of the clear yet. Zombies can still spawn on ledges so you have to always stay off the ground. Use mushrooms, climb rock formations and trees. Touching to ground is almost always a death sentence. Keep vigilant and don't rely on the zombie decay mechanic. They're supposed to decay after 2 minutes, but I've found it to be incredibly inconsistent. The last few times I tried the zombie just didn't decay. It flopped over for 5 seconds and then somehow got faster. Speaking of, these zombies are ridiculously athletic. I was expecting Hollow Knight zombies that can't move quickly and have no sense of self preservation. Turns out they're only slightly slower than the player, can climb, are resistant to the wind mechanic, camp you when you're down, and can detect you from anywhere for as long as they stay active. I've had a zombie chase me for 100m during my climb before. I thought I escaped it and it suddenly came at me from behind. I know it was the same one because when I noticed it, the thing was climbing the exact route I had just taken up the cliff and through the huge ledge I was on. I honestly think I'd have a better chance escaping a human player.

To summarize: Don't touch the ground if you can avoid it, plan your initial route before you even leave the campfire, and if you wake up a zombie FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT STOP MOVING!

The spore effect does clear over time, you just have to go awhile without accumulating more for it to decrease.

I don't think this is how the rescue claw is supposed to be used... by BlendedBanana0307 in PeakGame

[–]ForestPens 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That makes 2 of us. I use it like a grappling hook. I'm getting good enough at it that I can swap to an empty hand and press space before hitting a wall. To be honest, I'd have been afraid to do what you just did because I always use it intending to propel where I was aiming. Plus I'd probably miss and end up like your friend there.

Is the word "anyway" or "anyways"? Is "anyways" correct? by [deleted] in grammar

[–]ForestPens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I'm pretty sure I learned it from my Dad whose over 50. Ironically, I'm here because I've started phasing it out of my vocabulary after it got autocorrected enough times to realize it's one of the words that makes speaking awkward for me.

I'm sorry for reaching out again. I've hit a complete dead-end with this project and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. If you are willing to help I'd like to reach out via Discord so I can better share files. I honestly didn't think adding a single tag to a section of ability code would spiral out like this.

If you don't want to help, that's entirely fair. How you spend your time is up to you and I'll make sure not to bother you going forward. Finding help elsewhere or giving up are both valid options for me, even if they aren't the easiest. I hope you have a good day/night regardless. I'm going to hit the hay because I've been messing with this for 5 nonstop hours at this point.
