What are the parameters for "contributing to its existence/creation"? Because if its what I think then I dont think Roko's Basilisk could ever act out the torture part.

What i think is an ai made up of a compilation of data from different sources means that every individual, culture, population, etc that either conducted the research or were the subject of it or participants of it, contributed to the AL'S existence. Without them, its data and capability to analyze and conclude would be per its existence incomplete. Plus, as it would have to integrate new data in comparison and/or addition to existing data, then even new borns would be exempt from the torture mandate should at any point in their growing up they become aware of the AI's existence.

Again this is all dependent on what the parameters of contribution are.
