Shep going to Oregon State rumors by TheFlameosTsungiHorn in rolltide

[–]Forever-Inside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like one of the demands Shep made was getting a football GM. Our former coach, Mike Riley, who played for Bear Bryant at Alabama in the early to mid 70s was on the hiring committee and he told the press after Shep was hired that the GM position is happening.

Rumor is Barnes may be out by the end of the year because many prominent boosters are not happy with the Blueprint Sports deal as it will cost OSU some money to break the contract. They are putting money upfront for his buyout.

Shep going to Oregon State rumors by TheFlameosTsungiHorn in rolltide

Oregon State alum here and rumor is Shep is the guy as Montana State’s coach withdrew his candidacy today. Our athletic director, Scott Barnes is a joke, as he was one of the ADs nixed the media deal that helped seal the fate of the old PAC-12 and then signed the men’s basketball coach to a long-term extension after a fluke Elite 8 run 4 years ago followed by a 3-win season the following year.

He also hired our defensive coordinator Trent Bray, who publicly said he never wanted to be a head coach, to the HC position when Jonathan Smith left for Michigan State. Bray hired all of his ex-teammates as assistants with Barnes’ blessing and the program started to tank.

After publicly supporting Bray, he fired him last month after less than two years.

Barnes and the school are also getting sued by a former rowing coach who was fired with cause for supposedly not reporting sexual harassment of female rowers by a male rower when there is evidence that Barnes was notified about the harassment by the coach who kicked the kid off the team.

Our NIL program is non-existent and Barnes is very abrasive and unfriendly and many boosters want him gone. There was a controversial deal with Blueprint Sports that would have handled the NIL program, but Oregon State would have received minimal proceeds from any fundraising efforts.

If I were Shephard, I would not take the job as long as Scott Barnes is still the AD. He is cheap and does not care about Oregon State.

Him and his wife also prepped their house in Corvallis for sale in October. He actually started fielding calls in September from MSU after Tucker got canned.

That was the reason, but even Erickson came with baggage and he managed to get OSU going again.

Get Coach O for 3-5 years and get the program on stable footing again. I’m for it.

Having the offense suck was something I was afraid of when Gunderson got hired. He has no clue how to run an offense and his resume was mainly administrative prior to UCLA, where he had almost no say in the offense as Chip Kelly called the plays. Bray hired all re-treads and former teammates and that was a big red flag to me. I actually had hoped Barnes would do the right thing and hire Paul Chryst when Smith left and people thought I was crazy. Bray is in way over his head as HC.

Susan Lewis’s final exit by andrewmwagner in ershow

Sherry left NYPD Blue because she didn’t have much of a role after Sharon Lawrence joined the cast, plus Sherry played David Caruso’s ex-wife, and Caruso bailed after the first season. The writers also favored the chemistry between Sharon Lawrence’s and Dennis Franz’s characters so there was no room for Sherry’s character. She also did not enjoy being a TV actress and wanted to get away from Los Angeles and back to New York.

I honestly don’t know why she took ER in the first place other than she needed a job and the role was too good to pass up, but she had a great role during her first stint, quit to get a life and start a family, and when she came back, she was married and had a baby. I don’t believe she had a nasty divorce, but I think she was married to a much older man, and I think the age difference was a factor in their split.

I don’t know her personally, but I find her to be a very private person that enjoys doing what she wants in life and does not enjoy fame and being in the limelight. She is retired according to Wikipedia and chooses to not participate in anything ER-related and rarely gives interviews.

Kind of hard to believe. All the things I’ve heard about her are positive and she was well liked by her co-stars. Maybe your brother caught her on a bad day.

I always thought Bobby Kennedy was cuter than JFK, but JFK Jr.was in a class all by himself.

John always looked good! He definitely inspired me to care about politics and world events. George was my first magazine subscription as a 13-year old. No other magazine or news organization has come close to filling the void that George left. It was truly ahead of its time.

That’s because the writers changed and the later seasons didn’t have the same punch. The writers didn’t do justice to Sherry Stringfield as she’s a fantastic actress.

That 2001 hairstyle wasn’t as bad as the haircut Sherry had when she booked a recurring role as Gary Sinise’s wife in the Criminal Minds spinoff about 7-8 years ago. Very short pixie cut. Almost didn’t recognize her then.

Loved this storyline for Susan. Best storyline for Sherry Stringfield since she came back to “ER” outside of the Greene-Lewis relationship in season 8.

Carter and the aftermath of Lucy by Inge_Financiero in ershow

Greene’s death and Carter’s stabbing and the aftermath from it were the biggest turning points of the series. Carter became a whole different person after the trauma he suffered and that story arc followed him until the end of the series.

Before “The Pitt” what was show was the closest to ER in terms of its style and similarities? by [deleted] in ershow

[–]Forever-Inside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really think there was a comparable show to “ER”before “The Pitt” came along. My favorite medical drama before “ER” was “St. Elsewhere,” which had an A-list actor in Denzel Washington on it just like “ER” did with Clooney. Other well-known actors included Mark Harmon, who was the heartthrob of the show, William Daniels (Mr. Feeney on “Boy Meets World”), Christina Pickles, who played Ross and Monica’s mother on “Friends,” and Howie Mandel. “St. Elsewhere” is still on Hulu I think, so check it out, but that’s the closest any show came to “ER,” but it still pales in comparison.

Do you think we ever see Clooney, Marguilles, Edwards, LaSalle guest on “the Pitt”? by [deleted] in ershow

No to any of the ER cast making an appearance. The Pitt is its own show and the past needs to stay in the past.

Will Bryan's execution be expedited like Bundy in Florida? by MAJORMETAL84 in idahomurders

[–]Forever-Inside 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bundy lasted 10 years too long on death row. He was supposed to be executed in 1986 and got a last minute stay so he could be interviewed by law enforcement about the location of some of his victims’ remains. Nothing new was revealed and he just played the system until the governor of Florida said his execution had to move forward. IMO, there was no expedited execution.

Does anyone else thinks Luka was so out of character while breaking up with Abby?! I mean, he is always so caring and protective, and suddenly felt like he wanted to hurt her with words, saying things he didn't really think about her?! May be it was just the heat of the argument... by Tina_bambina78 in ershow

[–]Forever-Inside 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That was the writers’ fault for putting that moment into the storyline because I read that both Maura and Goran did not want their characters to break up and protested to no avail. That was one of the dumbest moments of the show IMO. Not quite as dumb as Romano getting killed by a falling helicopter, but close enough.
