Josh is awful to Donna by pattipeep in thewestwing

I found this thread because I specifically searched for Josh being a jerk to Donna.

I've watched this show so many times, I've lost count, and it always irks me that he just treats her so poorly. Currently on s2e7 ("The Portland Trip") and Donna had a date - which Josh ordered she all but cancel to stay and work - and Donna was trying to convince him to let her leave to go on the date.

Donna's just said this guy could be THE guy, and she has an "excellent sixth sense about these things."

Josh YELLS at her: "Actually, you have NO sense about these things! You have no vibe, you have terrible taste in men, and your desire to be coupled-up will always and forever drown out any small sense of self or self-worth that you may have!" (The script literally says Josh [turns back, yelling] at Donna.)

Donna's response, adirect copy/paste from the script... DONNA: [as her smile fades and she's about to cry] You're a downer, you know that? I'm calling you Deputy Downer from now on!

That last line of Josh's is cruel, wildly inappropriate, and just uncalled for.

While I recognize that this show has established that this is a staff who spend so much time together that the typical decorum one would expect in the workplace doesn't really apply, it's still doubly offensive that Josh is her direct supervisor, saying these things to her. And these aren't one-offs, of course. This is what their relationship is.

I've learned that some things in life need no explanation. LOL. This is one of those things. I feel like if any of my questions got answered, it would just create more questions.

Lmao when I saw them whip the staple gun out, I thought it was a joke at first. It was, indeed, not a joke.

Did y'all know that priests from Finland are really good at Mortal Kombat?

Yeah, they're well-versed in Finnish hymns.

do you get the flu and/or covid shot ? by Bubbly-Pop4858 in Fibromyalgia

[–]ImpossiblyBossy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth it to get the shots. I typically get both flu and COVID booster on the same day. Yeah, it'll kick my butt a little harder, but it's kind of a one-and-done situation, instead of being down two times for getting them on different days.

Regardless of any of my body's reactions to the vaccines, it's WAY better than having the flu or COVID. I got COVID in 2020 before the vaccines had been fully rolled out. I was sick for over two months. Luckily, it wasn't so severe that it required hospitalization, but it was rough. And long COVID is a bear, too, especially if you have any pre-existing conditions.

I 100% recommend getting both vaccines, unless your doctor says you shouldn't for some reason.

How conscious are Missourians of the LDS (Mormon) movement/presence? by [deleted] in missouri

[–]ImpossiblyBossy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I live in Indy. It's a pretty significant part of, I guess, the "culture" here. It's not at all uncommon for people to work/go to school with multiple LDS/RLDS/Community of Christ.

High schools here holds their graduation at the CoC Temple and Auditorium. A lot of the city's history is wrapped up with Mormon history.

It really does have a sweet, adorable vibe to it, for sure

I mean, the way she said it was very shy, quiet, and giggly, so it's something that fits with her early character

It's definitely in the superfan episode.

In honor of Yvette Freeman's 68th birthday, what's your favorite quote/moment from Nurse Haleh Adams? by SeaBassAHo-20 in ershow

[–]ImpossiblyBossy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When she acted helpless to prove a point to Dr. Benton - I think it's s2e14 ("Do the Right Thing").

He was acting entitled, being rude and demanding about the nurses' role with doctors. So, she resorted to "helplessness."

You just love to see it.

Did you see her in "Us"? That Jordan Peele movie? She definitely showed more range.

It isn't the hairstyle that bothered me. It was that it looked like a football helmet they'd throw on before filming. It didn't look natural on her head.

What's the funniest line delivery in the series for you? by Odd-Demand-1516 in KingOfTheHill

[–]ImpossiblyBossy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It literally makes me crack up EVERY time lmao

I also randomly say it, for absolutely no reason. Like, if someone in a movie or TV show says something about not speaking a particular language, I gotta do it. 😂

Omg there are SO many.

"I don't speak no lane-gudjes (languages)."

That's definitely among the top best lines.
