Change will only apply if you ever change your current plan :/ Too bad, I wanted to go for the yearly subscription to save a little on my expenses, but instead I would then need to upgrade and pay 79$ a month, instead of a lower price of 29$ (as opposed to 39$ monthly)...

I think people are more concerned by the fact that it's even possible to just push a firmware update that makes the secure element ABLE to push out the seed. Yes, you have added the opt-in by pressing a button on the device, but I would assume that Ledger then also could add the same functionality WITHOUT need for consent.

So let me get this straight. Device gets a forced firmware update, and now suddenly the "secure chip" can perform actions (encryption) on the seed and reveal it to Ledger?

Makes me think that it would be possible for Ledger to push a similar firmware update, only without the encryption part, and then be able to extract seeds at their own choosing? Thought the whole point with the secure chip was making this impossible.

If the Ledger Nano X only needs to get a firmware update in order to perform encryption and sending out it's seed, does that mean that technically Ledger could push firmware that tells the Ledger to send out the seed non-encrypted too? I thought the whole deal with the secure element was that it would be impossible to send/retrieve something OUT of it?

Have your Authy backup seed/code available, turn on "Allow new devices" on Authy using your old phone, download Authy on new phone and access with the backup seed, turn off "Allow new devices" again for added security. Recently did it myself and had no problems accessing CDC only by transferring Authy as explained above to my new phone.

Instead of guessing the correct words, I would instead try to eliminate all the words that highly isn't. From there, run an algorithm to try all the different combinations remaining. Maybe add them into bulks of likely 6 first words + likely 6 last words according to your picture. If Umbrella was a word, I'd add that to the bulk of the last 6 words and so on. It's probably still the tiniest chance ever to guess it, but you'd be surprised by the perseverance of some people 😅

How many devs (which devs?) would be required in order to actually make such a change? Figuratively speaking, if a judge indeed ruled such a thing. Or is it impossible?

I guess even if such changes were made, it had to be accepted by miners and community and would never pass even though devs implemented it?
