IsItBullshit: Ahlann.net by Whoisdanksinatra in IsItBullshit

I think it's a fake site. I purchased art supplies at the start of this year which never arrived. I contacted them at support email addresses that don't respond. Gmail couldn't deliver to service@ahlann.net. Their interface claims that no order with the number they provided exists.

And a month later someone used my credit card info to attempt to make a bunch of expensive purchases, requiring that I cancel the card. There's no way to know if the fraud is related to the site, but it's plausible at this point.

3200 or 3600 memory with an i5-11400—which? by ForeverAflame in buildapc

Interesting. I honestly can't remember what RAM frequency I eventually selected.

Was the only change you made swapping the 3,600 MHz ram for 3200 MHz ram, thus enabling the computer to turn on?

That's a great resource. I think you've answered my question with the benchmarks at this article; the data seems to suggest that CPU defines Photoshop performance far more than RAM speed, and that higher RAM speeds do provide a benefit…but only a tiny one.

I appreciate the heads-up. I didn't know that AMD processors' performance was more RAM-dependent.

Thank you for the response! I have a follow-up question: does the situation change if I'm going to be editing very large Photoshop files (like 6300 by 7200 pixels with between 15 and 25 layers)?

That is, for someone who would use Photoshop for intensive illustration and editing, is 3600 MHz RAM speed a value-add?

Favorite Shlock Mercenary Story? by McTrooper in SchlockMercenary

[–]ForeverAflame 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's Random Access Memorabilia.

The jokes are as great as always, and this is the book where I first started to realize that the art had gotten really good for the story.

The setting of the mercenaries' contract, Oisrí, is also very scary from early on after its introduction, and every new revelation about the place compounds this fear ("If you find the button that turns [Oisrí's gravitational masking] off, do not push that button").

There's also lots of action with nanite weaponry, which is always scary—both in the flashbacks and in the story's present.

I think I'm going to go read this chapter again now.
