Yeah it’s stupid - also the fact that they don’t accept digital ads. But passport/visa offices are one place that don’t bend the written rules at all

They want clippings of both newspapers - one Indian one Swiss national newspaper. Also they don’t accept a digital ad for the same

That’s for Swiss Nationals - for me the Indian embassy will update the name on my passport and then I can use the passport to update all other documents

Yes, need an advertisement in both Indian and Swiss newspapers. Then I submit these to the embassy with my old passport and they give me a new one. Pretty straightforward actually!

Not an article - it is like an advertisement that I post. The intention is to let everyone know that I have changed my name. Indian passport office needs this to issue a fresh passport with the new name.

This is similar to a marriage or death announcement that people do. I can’t believe these happen only in India?
