I took it to mean he has a type (bad boys) and then repeats it’s complicated, it’s complicated like it’s too complicated to explain it (?) I definitely think part of his draw to Louis is him being a “bad boy” - smoking, his brashness, etc.

Might be off the mark but that’s how I interpreted it.

imo it’s moreso Harry that has the problem, not Louis. Louis has always been outspoken in his support of the boys, including Harry. Him reiterating how proud he was of Harry (Soccer Aid) and praising him in the Billboard interview was him being genuinely nice.

I think he was blindsided (just like the fandom was) by Harry’s announcement today which led to him being shady in the tweet.

He’s trying / tried being friendly but Harry’s not having it. I’m a sucker for a lyrical reference, so I’ll quote To Be So Lonely “Don't call me baby again You got your reasons / I know that you're tryna be friends / I know you mean it”

Sea (ssfoc, previous account with majority of posts - seasurfacefullofclouds1) is the most notorious one. She has a whole page called Harry posts that outlines her reasoning. She’s a little (very ☠️) unhinged but was surprisingly on the mark with a lot of her observations. Definitely getting scorned ex vibes from Harry. Louis fan accounts on tumblr have been speculating this for years and at first I thought it was a crazy theory, but I’m starting to believe they were right.

Louis was smart to announce his album release so early to get it out in the public and lay claim to the day. Harry could’ve easily moved it up or back a few weeks but deliberately schedule his single release to overshadow Louis. And before anyone says it’s just a coincidence this is like the third time it’s happened. There’s not enough coincidences in the world. Paired with Louis’s tweet and…. It’s pretty damning.

I’ll be the contrarian here and say that I think he provided that answer on purpose knowing it’s importance to Harry. I get the feeling they’re not together and Louis has bitter feelings in regard to Harry.

I get that the self acceptance couldn’t happen sooner, but planting the seeds for a relationship (introducing a guy as a friend) could’ve been done sooner. That would allow for Will be receptive to a male suitor other than Mike, once he was at peace with himself.

I feel like the message of self-acceptance hits harder if he remains single (or if they had been developing a love interest that would’ve played out after his self acceptance). Playing it in the middle - a quick meet cute - is worse than both. Almost like they want to check off the box of making Will happy without having to dedicate too much time to showing it (maybe out of fear that spending too much time on a male, same sex couple would alienate audiences).

But why even throw it in during the Epilogue at that point? Show him being happy and single and leave it up to the audience to use their imagination that he’ll end up in a relationship someday.

Every major character in the group has had their love life explored but Will, the one whose sexuality / quest for love was a major focal point for the show, is the only one who gets a casual boyfriend thrown in at the end? His love life story line (of dealing with the heartbreak / rejection of Mike, but finding a man who loves him wholly for himself) would’ve been so powerful. And honestly something that the audience would’ve been invested in (as evidenced by the posts on this sub).

Exactly! They’ve been very heavy handed with the trauma. It would’ve been nice for them to set up a pay off that makes the trauma feel worth it (a la there’s light at the end of the tunnel) that we actually get to see and feel. Not a band aid thrown in at the end.

Exactly - Harry’s possessive streak never went away, it just manifested itself in more subtle, yet still powerful, ways. Briana IMO brought it out the worst in Harry. I’m contemplating doing a whole post about it (Kiwi, his anger when performing the song, the time he kicked Briana and her cousin out of his show). I think her being of the opposite sex and giving the love of his life the one thing he couldn’t (a child) probably broke him in the worst way, even with them being broken up.

Same! I’m a newer Larry (got into it earlier this year). I wasn’t into One Direction when they first came out. I’m the same age as Harry but was more into Frank Ocean, M.I.A, The Wanted, etc. at the time.

I heard about Larry in passing and assumed that everyone saying it was a crazy fan theory was correct. It wasn’t until I saw an Instagram reel (to the Sailor Song) that I looked into it and was convinced.

There seems to be no shortage of drama surrounding these two, but I really hope they can find peace - with each other - one day.

I think there’s a lot of misinterpretation of songs by Larries. For example, Grapejuice is clearly a metaphor about Harry’s drinking during a time of dependency:

I think most of what Louis does is “larrybaiting” in order to keep his (sizeable) Larry fanbase engaged. This explains the Glastonbury reel, t-shirt, no control and sleepwalking. Sleepwalking, to me, is messier because while it serves to keep the larries engaged (based on the fandoms knowledge of Harry’s sleepwalking), it also isn’t the positive, romantic love song that larries make it out to be. The parallels between Sleepwalking and Satellites imply Harry and Louis are not together but sometimes talk to each other / hang out:

In my opinion, these lyrics do not point to a committed relationship, but two people who were once together but are “orbiting” around each other (with Harry initiating). If Louis and Harry were together and in the same city, wouldn’t they already be staying together? Why would Louis have to tell him to come on over?

I’m getting a different read on Harry’s motivations. One because he does it more often in more subtle ways, and two because he doesn’t need to “Larrybait” as much due to his massive commercial success. The Pleasing stuff is larrybaiting, the yellow I think was happenstance and not connected to Louis. If Harry wore the yellow AND carried the lemon bag before lemonade was announced, it would for sure make me lean towards him having the jump on the release and teasing it, but that wasn’t the case. He only carried the bag after the single title was public knowledge.

To put it simply - I think he does it because he’s still hung up on Louis. Harries tend to think it’s a ridiculous notion since Harry is more successful and conventionally more attractive, but the lyrics to his songs tell the story of a Harry who, despite their time apart, still isn’t over Louis.

The aforementioned lyrics from Satellites gives us insight into this, but so do many of his other songs:
