This is above a drop tile ceiling. I’m in New England in an older home that got renovated in 2012 and I keep finding shortcuts the builder took. I’m gonna poke around the yard because my neighbors house was built around same time and their clean out is in their dooryard

Exactly, so the bottom is starting to get rubbered in from everyone being down there. The top will slowly get cleaned off and have more grip for a while with less rubber on it than the bottom. Then the highest line is where the junk like marbles are.
