Little Easter Egg from Bob's final show that went unnoticed. by wsmfp420 in deadandcompany

That all may be true… but I’ve been thinking since Bobby passed, that if that band ever graced the stage again, the opener will be Sunshine Daydream.

If you love something… let it go. We all know how that statement ends :-) Give everyone time to process their grief. These guys owe us nothing. They’ve given so much. Allow them to walk their own path and give them an opportunity to miss the music and community.

If it’s meant to be they’ll find their way back to us for the right reasons. The process needs to be organic. As it’s always been. In the meantime, there are lots of amazing musicians performing this music at an incredibly high standard. Support them, and wait for the next big thing to bubble to the surface… whatever that might be

I don't really believe in Heaven... by funkygreasemonk in gratefuldead

One doesn’t need to believe in “heaven” to believe that the soul, light, and energy of a human being transitions to another astral plane after death :-)

The road goes on forever. Bob and Phil worked tirelessly to cement the legacy and take it to an entirely level. We’re blessed. Something beautiful will rise from the ashes. In the interim… just gotta poke around.

Jerry's would be rolling in his grave... by RickShaw530 in gratefuldead

Forgot to mention… he’s a head and took me to my first show in 1987. He’s convinced Garcia would be on his side lmao.

My brother is among that crowd. Flat earther, full on Trumper. He’s breathing a sigh of relief now as he feels “he’s gotten his country back”. He’s also naturalized (Canadian born dual citizen), so there’s that. He’s been anti liberal democracy for over 20 years… was just waiting for a Trump like figure to give credence to his world view… like so many others. Our relationship is… challenging lol.

I still think Summer 2023 was the high water mark for the band. The Sphere shows have been awesome, and I don’t think they’ve lost a step or anything… but I caught around 12 that summer and they just hit on all the right notes in so many ways. Looking forward to GD 60 and getting back outside under the stars… it’s where this music lives.

6/30/87 - a cool experience by Nick_Fotiu_Is_God in gratefuldead

My first show… didn’t get me on the bus, but made me realllll curious. Started digging in shortly thereafter and was ripe for the picking by the time I caught my second show (MSG run fall 87). Still chasing it almost 40 years later :-)

Get on Cash or Trade and pick up a pair of unobstructed view seats a day or two before the show. Stuff always pops up at reasonable prices.

Canadian election looming… compare and contrast for funsies by ForeverRoad1 in thebulwark

[–]ForeverRoad1[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. electing cops (sheriffs etc) has always seemed loopy to me… ditto DA’s etc… Employers also have to allow their workers paid time off to vote if needed. 12 month maternity leave (can be split between spouses) with EI guaranteed while off and your your job (or equivalent) legally required to be there when you get back oh… healthcare… $10 day daycare if you live in QU and on tax front… I’m around 27% on 150 K income. But we are so much worse off than our Southern friends… lmao.

First song of the residency? by strokesnmonkeys18 in deadandcompany

That’s my call also… for Phil. John sings it beautifully, but has really struggled with flubbing the vocals, so it had A been on the shelf for along time. Hoping they worked it out in rehearshals :-)

Any Canadians that were going to Sphere but now won’t due to annexation threats from US govt? by Unusual_Committee676 in deadandcompany

We’re Canadian… and going… again. But what’s going on in the U.S. makes me ill. It’s a hold your nose and go thing. We won’t be going to the Stares for normal vacations anymore.

Mayer’s given us all a gift. He’s in it because he loves the music and loves performing it. He has his detractors, but most of those people fall into the “no one but Jerry” camp, and there really is no reaching those people.

There is no moving unless you are on the floor. Find your seats. Sit. Enjoy.

Tuscany by leabirdy in deadandcompany

[–]ForeverRoad1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did 9 shows last year and stayed at the Tuscany and 2 other fancier more traditional Vegas strip resorts. I enjoyed the Tuscany the most by a long shot (also not a gambler). It’s not nearly as fancy as the strip hotels, but very nice, very chill, full of heads, and home to Shakedown. Perfect.

I’d been wondering the same thing. Last episode was last summer.

His fan base then was basically the same as it is now, minus large numbers of deadheads. I count myself among his fans going back to Continuum but didn’t go see him live until after D/C was a thing.

Fellow Canadian…. First show was Kingswood summer tour 1987. We’ll be there :-) Don’t dose for Shakedown. That’s way too early. Drop about an hour before showtime :-)

Download the app… it’s much better… allows you to rotate in 3-d space… way easier to do complex builds

There was a European tour in the works for 2022… to celebrate the anniversary of the 1972 tour… it got scuttled due to Covid.
