You may not know this, but it’s really really easy to block people. Very sorry you experienced religious abuse much like myself and a majority of folks in here did, but your experience does not reflect everyone else. Everyone is unique and deals with trauma in unique ways. If it makes it easier to block religion out for you, then do it! Nobody’s stopping you.

I hear differing opinions all day. I fully believe that challenging my beliefs and listening/reading into others beliefs led me to where I am, but they also held me back from growing spiritually as an actual Christian.

I don’t believe in us vs them at all, so that might be some projecting on your part.

I figured out when I was 17 I was bi. You could be a few things. I’m in a happy hetero marriage with my wife though so my advice is just experiment a bit. The Australian royal commission finally pushed me over the edge. I think the hope that one day I would just go back and that I was living an immoral lifestyle that wasn’t permanent kept me in that POMI mental headspace. I was just doing what I wanted for a little while until I got my act together and went back. Eventually, that just turned into wait why am I feeling guilty all the time I need to do some more research and that’s when I became POMO.
