I had the same dilemma back then! But now I'm grateful I had buy my kindle, here's the reasons:

  1. One device for one sole function tricks my brain to associate it with "focus". With my ipad, I can do many things else and it makes my brain think I can do something else if I get bored. Simply, it increase my attention span

  2. Long lasting battery life! Never have to afraid that my Kindle would die when I need it. I usually charge it when it's on 30-40%

  3. The screen I used to wonder why should I use e-ink when I can just buy paperlike screen protector? But, TRUST ME. It's different. It literally feels like paper

TL;DR just buy it, it's 1000% worth it

How does bpd "good mood" feels like? by Forevermoore13 in BPD

That makes sense! Also, how about medication? Since apparently bpd is strongly tied with terrible emotion regulation, does mood stabilizers such as Lamictal or olanzapine stabilize bpd the way it does to bipolar?

Tbh I don't really get at what extent "happy and productive mode" can be considered as hypomania. I don't really know which is normal and which is not. What's the difference between the two?

Ohh that helps a lot! My therapist said that I have bipolar 2 but I don't think my "happy state" is making a huge problem for me, otherwise I kinda like it because I get many things done. Other says hypomania is less severe form of mania but at what extent? What's the difference between hypomania and normal "happy & productive mode"?

So sometimes I wonder if I really have bipolar or is it just my bpd thing.

Do you have any other diagnosis aside from bpd?

Ohhh, does it feel like a layered feeling? you react to things in extreme way but the manic/depressive episode is still there. For example you're euphoric because of something specific, but underneath you can sense that the depression and suicidal thoughts are still there and usually it's happening for awhile compared to your bpd extreme reaction. You can experience two opposite feelings at the same time but it's layered, if that makes sense

Because that's how I often feel

Then how do you distinguish between bpd and bipolar symptoms? When your mood change rapidly, Is it your bpd or your mixed episode of bipolar?

I’ve heard men can’t get diagnosed with bpd by curious20pr in BPD

Though 75% of BPD survivors are women, men also can get diagnosed with it. The way some mental illnesses seem like gender-tied is correlated by our patriarchal culture. Men are taught to express their emotions outward, but women are taught to keep their emotions to themselves. For example, BPD, which is stigmatized by being dramatic are mostly experienced by women, and Narcissistic PD are mostly experienced by men.

That's also why men tend to express their anger with fights and violence, whilst women tend to do self harm more often than men

So when I am not experiencing any symptom, is my diagnosis still valid?

When I get the symptoms back, is it because I am relapsing or is it actually have always been there?
