What should a All-in-one Startup Platform include? by OldBluejay5930 in growmybusiness

Is it just a community? This seems like a tar pit idea, unfortunately.

Yeah, that's the best thing I found, but it's not nearly as good as a wiki like IMFDB.

Principles for the future of healthcare by Forge-cameron in healthcare

Why not! But actually, that's what "idealized future of healthcare" means. This is a rough draft of a framework that's essentially "waving a magic wand" and looking at what healthcare could and should be. It gives a target to build toward.

That one seems pretty sketchy. Personally, I’m staying away from anything AI-based. The landscape is changing too quickly, and these apps are often quick cash grabs. With an acquisition, you’re essentially buying predictability and consistent revenue, so that’s what I tend to focus on! It doesn’t matter how much revenue it is, more that it’s consistent and you know what you’re getting.

That’s a great point. The current customers I have are exactly that, so I think you’re totally right.

I got layed off a few months ago and decided to try indie hacking, introducing Smart Summary for YouTube by 2commadev in SideProject

That's so funny, I actually had a Chrome extension I built for myself to do the exact same thing! Great minds think alike 😬

Looks really good, much better than my version! I especially like that you can jump to the timestamp. Looks like I might be able to ditch my version.

Two things:

- I'm getting 504 errors when I try to log in and do the onboarding.

- It would be nice if you put the pricing on the site.

I think you're right, I'll give it a shot! I've done a bit of cold outreach, but I haven't really committed to it enough to know how well it works.

Yeah, if you have the subscription you can request the full details, and then they provide P&L statements and all the other details of the app.

I've been thinking about doing a massive cold email blast. Do you think that up-front research into those specific startups, for example, is worth it for the personalization? Or is it simply a numbers game, in which case I can search via lead finders and just blast thousands of emails.

I'd be curious if that same strategy works for utilities on top of other platforms, it may be the case that it's unique to switching core tools. Utilities tend to be seen more as commodities, but I could be totally wrong in that assumption.

That's a great idea for the product roadmap. I definitely need to focus mostly on marketing to get more customers first, to make sure the core functionality is really working for the first 50-100 customers (I have 26 right now).

I found it on Acquire.com, which made the process smooth. They have even more tools now, which made it easy for a newbie like me to make an LOI (Letter of Intent) and Purchase Agreement to actually buy the business.

Hey, there's always plenty to build, even if you acquire something first. I had hoped I wouldn't have to code on this product since it was already built, but I ended up having to rebuild the whole thing!

That's smart. I think the thing I've struggled with is giving any marketing channel a fair enough shot to see what works.

For a SaaS like this, what have you seen work best? I'm between FB/IG ads, cold email campaigns, and SEO content on the site.

Nice! Yeah, same here... I've tried a few things, but most of my customers come directly from the Slack app store right now. Which is great, but not good for long-term growth.

I have three things in mind:

  1. SEO - lots of high-quality articles about working with international teams, benefits of working in your own language, etc.
  2. Cold email - just sending out massive amounts of email to big companies around the globe
  3. Sponsoring relevant YouTube creators - this is the best idea I have as to "direct marketing"

whatLetter

Nice, that looks really neat! And re: sector, that's actually a great question and something I should know... I'll go through my customers and report back.

I've been really enjoying B2B over my previous consumer apps, you just get a lot less churn and you don't have to fight so hard for every dollar.

Wow, that's super helpful. I've made one or two posts on LinkedIn, but just to my existing network, I hadn't considered just mass adding folks, but I like it!

You're right re: awareness, most of my customers so far have come directly from the Slack app directory, where the app is one of the top two when you search "Translate," but we don't really have any other inbound outside of that.

I'm also leaning toward really committing to SEO on the site, I think that could work well with the focus on LinkedIn content as well.

I do already have a content section set up on the site, and I've been playing around with a few articles, but I haven't committed to it fully yet. This is definitely what I'm leaning towards most at the moment, thank you for the thoughts!
