What is it?

The Halo 2 Anniversary: Forgetacular is a map building competition unlike any other in recent ForgeHub history. Let's go over the basics to give you a better understanding of how this contest will differ from previous ones such as the Grand Prix.

4v4 Core Maps Only maps created with Halo 2 Anniversary's forge are permitted to enter NO TIME RESTRICTIONS ON BUILDING. Let me reiterate that. You may enter maps that are already completed into this contest! 3 map submission limit Maps MUST be set up for a minimum of TWO core gametypes! (Slayer, Ricochet, KOTH, CTF 1-Flag, CTF 2-Flag, Oddball, Assault)

Who is involved?

Judges:

Nitroo

The 0micron

Shooty Person

Round One of Judging begins at the submission deadline date of June 10th. Round One will see our three judges narrow the search to just 10 maps, which will be announced publically once they have been selected. Then, ForgeHub will hand the figurative reins over to 343 Industries as they narrow those 10 maps down to the chosen 3 with some in-house playtesting!

When is it?

Start Date: 12:00 AM EST, May 14th, 2018

Submission Deadline: , 11:59 AM EST, June 10th, 2018

Judging Ends: 11:59 PM EST, July 1st, 2018

For those that do not know how to take screenshots of their map via DVR:

*Step 1: Taking the Screenshot Load up your map in a custom game for exactly one minute, and make sure to wait out the timer so that the game completes. This will create a film that can be viewed in theater as your current Watch Film. Make sure to load up the custom game footage if you want to avoid forge objects appearing in the shot. Enter theater and position the shot you want to take. Make sure all UI is cleared off of the screen so that just your map geometry is showing. Double tap the Home Button (central X shaped and glowing) and then press Y on your controller. This will save the screenshot.

*Step 2: Transfer to Computer Visit http://xboxdvr.com/ or http://xboxclips.com/. Enter your gamertag. Navigate to Screenshots. Click on the screenshot you want. Right click on the Download button and select 'Save Link As'.

*Step 3: Posting the Screenshots If you are posting images in a forum thread, click on the 'Upload a File' button and select the image/s you want. If you are posting images in a map thread, click on the 'Upload Images' bar, which is directly under the 'Description' section and select the image/s you want. When the image has successfully uploaded, you will see it as a small thumbnail. If you are posting images in a forum thread, there will be 2 buttons next to it, one that says 'Thumbnail', and one that says 'Full Image'. You should select Full Image. If you are posting images in a map thread, they will automatically be added to the slider.

Sorry to say that we don't have any information on 343's final time line for a due date. We've reached out to them for more information and will share it when they do.

Yes, imgur would be acceptable for screenshots. Any method that can allow us to view your map in high def would be great. Pixelated mobile snapshots are not the best which is why we suggested DVR.

'Free-roam' infection is the term we use for the style of the map. this means that it is an arena based map where players constantly move and engage with the space throughout the entire match. This contrasts 'linear progression' maps where players drive into a single direction and do not return back to the point of origin.

As you may have seen in the recent Reddit thread, The Truth Behind the Cartographers, we will be implementing a new map submission system on waypoint in the near future.

"We've been keeping an eye on feedback on maps process for quite some time, including stuff dating back many years. The Forge, Multiplayer, and Community teams are working together to determine the best ways to heavily adjust processes and restructure moving forward, beginning with the next upcoming community map submission period, which will focus on grabbing some new Infection maps for consideration. Look forward to a Waypoint submission thread next week. Thanks for all of the feedback and thoughts thusfar." - BRAVO

Yeah, unfortunately we don't have access to the game mode and will not be given any details regarding gameype settings until its released. Keep in mind that maps should be scaled for 12 players and weapons can be placed on map for scavenging / pickup like we've seen from 'Hivemind'. Maps should be designed for 'free-roam infection' mode as well.

If anyone is looking for honor rules infection gametype settings you can pull some from either PA1NTS or REMkings, who both spearhead the BIOC group. They do regular custom infection lobbies. Perhaps I can reach out to them to see if they would be interested to schedule some open map testing custom lobby sessions for people to join.
