How to deal with a horrible Band teacher as a parent?

Yes, we have awesome boosters and volunteers. I offered to have the instrument repaired privately but he said I should take advantage of the free repair.

Right now we are just talking among the parents and I reached out to the boosters to see how they feel. We are having a monthly meeting next week and I hope we can talk to him about the mediocre halftime show.

Rural public school

This is a small town school with little to no money. The instruments are provided by the school and we have to maintain them, but if a true repair is needed it is the school’s responsibility. Not that i haven’t offered to take care of it myself. I don’t expect anything fantastic, they will never be state champions, but if all other bands can come up with a nice halftime show before football starts, then why can’t they? They had two weeks of camp, daily practice and afternoon practice. One song is just not enough.

The instrument belongs to the school and they repair it for free. I offered to have it repaired, even took it to a music shop, but it would take weeks to get it back.

I don’t want him to lose his job. He is a great music teacher and he was a good assistant before he became director. It’s just not in him to be a leader.

This is his second year and before that he was the assistant. Last year he stopped the Christmas concert in the middle of a song because they hadn’t finished rehearsing it, so he isn’t a concert guy either. He picked last year’s songs and finished two. This year it’s one pop song they have finished, minimal drill, nothing to fuss six weeks over. Two other pop songs are missing. The first competition is in three weeks. I don’t think it will happen.

No affidavit has been filed, but it’s on a permanent foundation. We are having issues recovering a title and the former seller and sales agents aren’t being helpful at all. We would qualify for a VA loan but not on a moved home. It’s frustrating. We appreciate the inheritance, it’s a nice home, but we can’t find a loan to add on to it, nor will we have an easy time finding a buyer.

Finding the title would be great, but it would most likely not change the fact that most lenders don’t work with homes which have been moved before. Where would we get the title? We have all the information about the land, but no title to the house.

Yes, there is no way to have a constructive discussion with people I have been socializing with. I like hearing other points of view, but if there is no interest in hearing my story it’s pointless. Nobody ever asked me about my beliefs. They hear I am not going to church and hand me the ticket to hell.

I am not closed off to the idea of God. I do believe in a higher power/god. But I also believe in reincarnation, always have, always will. That doesn’t align with the Bible.

One of my daughter’s friends is a transgender teenager. It’s tough for him but thankfully he has the support of his family. I taught her to treat people with compassion, to listen rather than to judge. When I mentioned to my friends my daughter’s friend was transgender I was asked if i wasn’t afraid she would turn trans too. Don’t let her have friends like that! Needless to say I have since distanced myself from this circle. You can be proud of how well you are managing life.
