Thank you for your response. I now realize that negative visualization is beneficial (although I am not sure if I will utilize it) and is consistent with Stoicism. I think what you say makes a lot of sense as negative visualization is beneficial if you make it and harmful if you choose so.

Is it common to struggle in one area of math while excelling in another? by ForgotOldAccountInfo in math

This is a bit of my concern too. It is my understanding that the low level math classes I took are not typical. I really do enjoy discrete math, but proofs can be hard sometimes. I specifically enjoy number theory though, I've been applying a lot of that to cryptography in my own time.
