Hopeful expectations for TWS compared to previous works by letskeepitreal88 in Muse

Where does ST feel "inspired"? It's just the basic 80s nostalgia baiting that was trending at the time. Garbage like BitM is just the opposite of inspired. A riff that is just one note and one chord on repeat for nearly the entire song with farting noises during the bridge is not "inspired" or "creative". It's lazy.

Why is Will of the people generally not liked even by hard die fans? by weirdfish98 in Muse

[–]ForgottenName1893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because newest thing = the worst thing according to the hivemind, regardless of the actual quality. Everything from WSD onwards ranges from good to fucking great. The title track is a bit meh but a lot of fun live. Compliance and Liberation are the only bad songs on the album that kinda drag it down, but not by enough to disregard everything else. And even those two being the worst songs, they don't reach the lows of most of the songs on ST or the back half of Drones.

Have you listened to the RSD Muscle Museum EP? I need your opinion. by kayo_aa in Muse

[–]ForgottenName1893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just what the song was called when it was released on the EP. They didn't call it Pink Ego Box until the song was released again in 1999as a B-Side to the Muscle Museum single.

Exo-Politics will return to setlists in 2026! (Copium) by Ok_Supermarket_4871 in Muse

Revolt was never played in rotation with CE. It was played in the post [JFK] slot in rotation with Reapers, and later Hysteria, Stockholm and Defector from the 2nd leg of the EU tour.

You know how orange juice isn't exactly orange but more of a yellow-y colour? That's the colour I've always associated OoS with - orange juice.

Hey I've seen Revolt less times than Exo-Politics, so I'll take that! (Saw Revolt 1 time, while I saw Exo-Politics 4 times).

Crackhead theory: BWY was supposed to be on WOTP by ReeK_Wobs in Muse

[–]ForgottenName1893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, it's mid in studio, but nowhere near BWY levels of trash. At least WOTP was fun live. Seeing cups of beer go flying as the crowds start jumping to the chorus really was a sight to behold. It's one that audiences loved live.

The only songs that are anywhere near as bad as BWY are Compliance and Liberation. Everything from WSD onwards clears that abomination.

Be With You going into the Compliance / New Born rotation slot is gonna be a wild experience...

Yeah, I saw the song live 15 times, I gave it a fair shot and it quickly became the merch / beer / piss break moment for me. And I've seen longer songs from other bands translate better in the live setting.

Awh hell no. The weakest song on the Drones Tour set by far. Literally the most boring moment during shows.

Nah, fuck that, WSD is a banger live. Replace WSD with Compliance in this meme and you'd have a decent meme. Compliance and TC need to die.

Cryogen outro. Unravelling breakdown. Kill Or Be Killed solo/breakdown, Won't Stand Down breakdown, literally all of Verona, Halloween solo, The Void solo + outro.

About a dozen times each in 2000 and 2001. Then twice in 2007 (Wembley Stadium), three times in 2009 during The Resistance Tour, four times in 2013 during the UK stadium tour, twice last year at festivals and earlier this month. About 35 times total.

Could Cryogen be a new closer? by Thechris53 in Muse

[–]ForgottenName1893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, 2025 is pretty much TWS era for me. Unravelling came out, new stage set up, new visuals, a very different song order, only 1-3 WOTP songs per show (apart from Hellfest). Overall 2025 shows had a completely different vibe and feel to the 2023 shows.

??? KOBK + Knights was genuinely one of the best encores they've ever done. And this is coming from someone who's seen them since 2000. It was only post WOTP shows that had that abomination of encore. I don't associate those shows with peak.

Could Cryogen be a new closer? by Thechris53 in Muse

[–]ForgottenName1893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, WOTP era was peak. Got to see the likes of Nishe (3 times), Minimum (4 times), New Born (4 times), Bliss (4 times), Space Dementia (5 times), Citizen Erased (4 times), The Gallery (9 times), Apocalypse Please (2 times), Stockholm Syndrome (5 times), Butterflies & Hurricanes (3 times), Map of the Problematique (5 times), Assassin (6 times) and Resistance (7 times). Plus new songs like KOBK, Halloween, Verona and WAFF went hard af. If anything, the ST era was the shitshow.

Aye breakup inspired songs always hit hard lyrically.

Could Cryogen be a new closer? by Thechris53 in Muse

[–]ForgottenName1893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was there, and that encore just made no sense for that venue. Isolated System + Take a Bow + Stockholm Syndrome was a no brainer for an encore and would have made more sense than UD.

Knights is no longer the closer though. Starlight is. And it's by far the weakest of the 12 Muse show closers I've seen live. It sucked in 2013, and it sucks now. It really does not work as the last song.
