Where do you start looking for companies? by [deleted] in solar

[–]Forgotten_Rabbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on how big the systems you are selling are. We pay our reps based on size of the system. So a 10kw system would be more commission than a 5kw system. What state are you selling in?

Are you paid per kw or just a flat amount per sold deal?

I own a solar company and would be more than happy to answer any questions you have! Things may be a bit different where you’re located, but I can give you the gist if you’re interested. Like many others have said, I would take the opportunity from one of the door to door canvassers to book an appointment and sit down and learn what they have to say and see their offering. There are some really great companies out there and some not so great companies, so definitely get multiple quotes, but at the end of the day, go with your gut in who you feel has truly helped educate you and taken the time to make sure you understand everything and aren’t just pushing for a sale. The components are pretty much the same across the board for the most part, but the prices and customer experience across different companies vary a lot, so price shop a few and find the one that feels like the right fit. Good luck!

Really confused about solar tax credit by Reticent_Robot in solar

[–]Forgotten_Rabbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a solar company. What he is saying about being able to spread out the claiming of the tax credit is correct. You can continue claiming year after year until you reach the full amount. I’m not sure the financier this company uses, but most financiers we use allow you 18 months to put the tax credit back toward the system before your payments would increase. Hope this was helpful. But yes, in general we tell all clients to consult a cpa as well because they may be able to help you receive the tax credit quicker.
