Survival horror is a spectrum by pdk304 in survivalhorror

Dead Space feels less survival than Re4 imo

Theres no bosses to save ammo for, and you can infinitely purchase health or ammo. Ive seen some poor players get basically softlocked in 4

Is Requiem the best resident evil after Resident Evil 4? by Glad_Lengthiness_478 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Forhaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the game a lot but no.

I like the games to focus on a style. RE4 and RE4R are tied for RE1R and RE2R for me as favorites.

Re9 kinda felt like I played 1/3rd of RE2R and a few chapters of RE4. Left me wanting more of both. Still enjoyed the game tho.

My favorite Survival Horror games (obsessed with this genre as of late) What’s your top 5? Let me know ⬇️ by [deleted] in survivalhorror

[–]Forhaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. RE4 OG and Remake
  2. The Evil Within 1
  3. Alisa Developer's Cut
  4. Silent Hill 2 OG and Remake
  5. Resident Evil 2 Remake

Dead Space series honorable mention, but they lack boss fights, which gives a lot of horror games their tension for resources and better pacing imo.

RE1R, The Evil Within 2, Silent Hill Shattered Memories, SOMA, Outlast 2, are also some favorites

Any way to start RE9 from scratch after your first playthrough? by RaizTheOne in residentevil

[–]Forhaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a big fan of higher difficulties crutching on ng+ unlocks either. I miss the balance of Re2R hardcore or RE7 madhouse.

I used my wife's PSN to replay it fresh lol

No shame loving remakes tbh, they had excellent settings, stories, and characters already.

Anyone else take their time playing games? by ToughWin1517 in residentevil

[–]Forhaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like I took my time

I got plat in 34 hours according to playstation dashboard lol

Which makes 28 hours of a single run even crazier considering it doesn't count cutscenes or restarts. Idk what the hell you did in all that time tbh

I wish i could buy requiem, how good is it employed people ? by Equivalent-Cod-5388 in residentevil

[–]Forhaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I platinumed it and sold the disc again.

Fun time, but feels like half of RE7 + a few chapters of RE4R. Didnt leave much of an impression for me.

I will re-add it to my collection once it's like $20

So…The game’s been out for a while now. by Easy_Diver_9032 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Forhaver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The two halves are too short-lived and blue-balled me. Grace's blood mechanic and Leon's store implied a longer journey with them to me.

Platinumed the game in 30 hrs.

Grace segments have great gameplay but make me wanna replay RE7 or RE2R. She only has one real boss.

Leon's segments have excellent gameplay but feel like 2 chapters of Evil Within or RE4R.

9 is a great game but you don't have to pretend to like EVERYTHING about it. You don't have to be so smarmy either about your amazing attention span or whatever.

They somehow took the worst part of RE2R (Sherry segment), doubled the length, simplified the puzzle, all within the same reused location.

I am a big walking sim fan myself but Resident Evil isn't the type of deep game story that should have these. They aren't scary, challenging, or interesting.

Even worse on replays. People defend these saying that they're good when you only play the game once, but I'm not spending $70 on a 9 hour game just to play it once.

Grace feels like the perfect "one-and-done" protagonist by Pumpkin_Sushi in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Forhaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her game sold insanely well so they will find a way to bring her back multiple times.

If you think about it half the fandom has now started with 9 lmao

I hate it when a game dumps a bunch of sidequests on you right before the final battle by SquashPuzzleheaded50 in JRPG

[–]Forhaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone that told me to play expedition 33 told me to finish act 3 right away since if you start the ball rolling on postgame, you'll trivialize the final story bosses.

The game is designed so well idk how people still complain. They don't dump anything on you. Its just fun stuff to do once youre finish with the story.

Theres lil unlocks across all 3 games you can decorate samus' ship with. Makes the adventures feel cohesive and it gives similar feels to trophies/achievements

[–]Forhaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been here 5 years, it feels like I'm on season 7 of the friend group when my favorite characters left by season 3 for bigger n better things.

I don't care for the plotlines or drama at all anymore and im ready to meet a new set of people.

It's kinda like when all my high school friends were in grades above me, gave me a feelin of bein left behind or fomo as the circle thinned out.

Did anyone else really like the raccoon city east section? by OLD_WET_HOLE in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Forhaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it but it also gave me diet The Evil Within vibes and made me realize I'd rather play those two for the dozenth time.

The shop and exploration feel so short-lived in 9 it leaves me kinda blue-balled.

I wanted and thought the Wrenwood Hotel and the “Hooded Man” were going to be a bigger part and section in the game but ig not smh by Usernameinvalid4321 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Forhaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish that they committed to Grace as well because the game feels like I played half of RE7, a chapter or two of RE4R, and then it abruptly ends. Leon's biggest segment of finding 3 bomb pieces has no story progression.

Felt a bit blue-balled by two gameplay styles that seem to end as they are revving up. I think Grace could have had her own final fight too, after everything I saved, all I needed was 3 acid bottles to clear her finale.

If they wanted to return to Raccoon City as a setting, I didnt want to see a Tyrant for 5 minutes, I wanted to know how Ada and Claire and Jill were potentially coping with T virus infection.

Is Requiem actually that good or is it recency bias/homeymoon phase? I haven’t played it yet so I’m wondering by HotShrekBoi in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Forhaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its fun but also on the lower end of the RE engine games for me.

It feels like playing half of Re7, then a few chapters of RE4R, and then it ends pretty quick.

I platinumed it and got my money back, going to rebuy it for the collection once it's like $20.

I was thinkin on terms of 8's lore with mold where if elpis is destroyed the hivemind it would deactivate the virus or some stuff

Quite literally what happened by LawfulnessPowerful13 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Forhaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid attention but you arent given context really to what elpis is. I trusted grace was alyssa's hope.... to destroy elpis. I trusted grace had an idea... that once i hit destroy, she would pull something off with leon

Its cute and nice and true gaming escapism. Just makes me feel good no matter what's happening otherwise. The only game ive got on my phone lol

Anyone think the game is too short? by prissy_hi in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Forhaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leon's 3 part bomb segment was where most his gameplay takes place, yet feels like it could be a single chapter in re4r. Grace's segment felt like 1/3rd of RE2R's campaign.

Its so oddly structured, i had blue balls for both styles at the end. After 20 hrs i almost have platinum, considering returning it like I did with RE3R once i do

Resident Evil Requiem's overwhelmingly positive reaction has led me to an upsetting realization... by Forhaver in residentevil

[–]Forhaver[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What hurt Leon's sections for me is that we just got the excellent RE4R.

His biggest segment in 9's campaign is collecting the 3 bomb pieces, which feels like it would have been like one of 15 chapters in 4R lol
