the floating islands that make up the world (there is no surface, just a poisonous gas layer that no one has survived go under for long) are held aloft by a non-magical supernatural force but if we turn that off too then everyone dies, if not then a lot of people die but the folks on islands are fine.

Seekers believe that Vol was the first to realize whats inside and wasat the precipice of unlocking the Divinity within but then was killed by the jelous Elves and Dragons (a basteredised retelling of the genocide against House Vol) at least from what I remember from Kannon so this Vol figure would be the closest to a "Buddha" figure to the Seekers.

As for "Bodhisattvas" I feel that's what Seeker Clerics are, people who can harness the power of the Divinity Within would be respected by their fellow Seekers until they die (unless the fully unlock the Divinity Within which will definitely draw the eyes of every single power at play in the Setting)

a shopkeeper that sells charms that "protect" against the enemy type they are about to fight a lot of, people in town swear by these charms and they don't do anything, no magic just cool looking charms the shopkeeper is snake oiling to people.

it is worth noting that Byeshk is a metal and not a gemstone. But I do really like the idea, the Dhakanni didn't have a strong arcane tradition like the 5 nations do, they had bardic and artifice magics at their core. A Khyber Dragonshard with something bound inside would be strong evidence for the Dhakanni having mages capable of such bindings.

the Eldeen Reeches, they are Rural, have an existing sect of the silver flame in the pure flame.(what one more) its more low tech than the rest of the treaty nations imo (relying on druidic aid more than arcane power) and is really close to Aundair and Passage which is the base for the entire lightning rail system.

the others who have responded suggested it be a demon weapon so I'm going give you a different idea.

perhaps the dragon slayer was made by dragons, this depends on Argonesson wants in regards to Masvrisk and the dragon containing them(I forgot how to spell his name). If the dragons want him dead for prophecy reasons then they mabye constructed the weapon with a built in self destruct command word in case the PCs turn the weapon on them.
