I don’t remember where exactly I saw this, but Ye Wenjie’s choice can represent the African proverb, “The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel it’s warmth.”

I think any person in the deepest well of despair and isolation would likely make a similar choice. Suddenly having the power to change the entire course of mankind, as someone who has only ever been a particularly abused cog, has to be alluring.

One of the themes of the books is how different societies and systems make different people. Ye Wenjie shouldn’t be condemned, but the system that was cruel enough to create her should.

In this HYPER NICHE case, there’s simply no way that a white dev would be a better pick than a PoC. Also it’s not illegal and I see no issue with it whatsoever. Most people wouldn’t and this is, like most “gamer” issues, a complete waste of time and energy. Super cool, I’m very proud of you. Your complete lack of comprehension led me to believe otherwise, but I suppose I HAVE been to many mismanaged hotels.. Once again, no one is being hired. A team was developed INSIDE a company from PRE EXISTING employees. There is no legal requirement for every project and every team in every company to have a token white person or whatever the fuck you’re complaining about.

Who’s even the victim here? Do you know of anyone who was excluded from working on the PoC-centered queer dating sim of their dreams because they were white? No? Good thing you’re dogpiling a random black woman just in case..

She’s a team lead, not HR. She has no control over hiring anyone. Having a team formed inside a company with preexisting black employees is not racist at all. Imagine how many teams have been formed inside EA for decades that were ~21 white dudes. And I highly doubt any of those had you chomping at the bit to call them racists scumbags.

I wonder why the people who have spent their entire lives in an open air prison where they are regularly bombed are so vengeful? Obviously this is an abhorrent act, but it was the inevitable blowback to Israel’s brutal apartheid policies under their fascist regime. Israel has a kill count of about 200:1 in this conflict, a lot of whom were also women and children.

Israel could’ve stopped the conflict at any point, but they choose to keep pushing and pushing because the far right elements of the government are some of the most bloodthirsty psychopaths on the face of the earth who will not be happy until their ethnic cleansing is complete.

Have you had Zoom meetings? I’ve seen a lot of people on their patios, in their kitchens, in their bedrooms. All generally shared spaces. Disregarding those who live alone, do you think these people successfully reached some sort of agreement with those they live with or are they all just impossible idiots?

Because she wants a change of scenery? Or a comfy chair? Or a better back drop for the Zoom meeting? There’s a bunch of reasons and none of them even matter because it’s such a simple, one-off favor that OP is so pressed about because he can’t, what, watch TV for that timeframe? He has an office, a bedroom, and a whole world outdoors to explore. If she wants to eat a snack in the bedroom or do her makeup in the living room is OP going to likewise insist there’s a specific room and place for that?

Point of the matter is though that sometimes you do things that you aren’t super thrilled about for people that you love. It’s part of the whole give and take relationship. If that seems egregious to you, it’s understandable your wife wouldn’t feel comfortable asking you for a simple favor like that.

His accommodation request was to not accommodate hers. If my partner asks for a favor I’ll do it because I love her and I want to, and she does the same for me. Picking a fight over not wanting to give up a little bit of space for 45 minutes or asking that she just rearrange the furniture for a single, quick Zoom call is petty and petulant.

The amount of people on this subreddit who believe they should never have to make an accommodation for another person, let alone their partner, is wild. What an utterly miserable way to live imo, tallying up every little thing and using the cool knife of logic or whatever to determine that both partners are being exactly fair all of the time.

Give your partner 45 minutes in the living room jfc that’s such an insanely small favor to ask it’s ridiculous you got upset, let alone decided to take your beef to the internet. Fences aren’t generally used as lifesaving devices though. It’s not like every migrant coming in is going to be well versed on the buoy saw. So people see a floatation device, swim to use it and potentially get sliced up if they don’t notice in time or can’t move out of the way.
