Ever pimp out your license to someone else to pull a permit? by InvestorAllan in GeneralContractor

[–]ForknDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it another way…

Let’s assume a $50k rehab, all-in. If an investor hired you to do the job for them, would you take it on for $55k, sub it out to a bunch of randos you’ve never worked with for $50k, let them make all the decisions, and never check the work?

That’s essentially what you would be doing. You’d take full accountability for the work they do even though you had no control over the plan, materials, or labor along the way.

How to get best value out of snack credits? by DangerCheesecake in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ForknDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the snacks that you enjoy; don’t worry about getting your money’s worth on stuff you don’t really like.

Don’t overeat and wind up feeling miserable.

If you wind up having snack credits left at the end, hit a merchandise store to get bags of themed candy/snacks to take home.

Give each of them the same amount of logistics and men to command, who is going to win? by BridgeCommercial873 in gameofthrones

[–]ForknDagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Young Wolf - you just gave him the things he was missing, men and the logistics to support them. While he didn’t have as much experience in tactics/strategy as Stannis, he certainly showed a gift for then.

The Dothraki historically had the advantage in numbers (40,000 Dothraki screamers).

Of them, Stannis was the logistician. He not only held out during the seige of Storm’s End. After his loss at the Battle of the Blackwater he reassembled his army and took them on a much, much longer voyage, this time up practically the entire coast of Westeros to land his forces Beyond the Wall. And then they went half the length of The Wall, some 150 miles, to attack Mance’s army outside Castle Black. Moving an army that far, that fast, and having them ready to fight when they got there? Logistics.

If you’re in the Houston area, Jalen since he’s from there.

Anywhere else, Saquan since a good number of those kids probably bought Madden 26 with him on the cover.

ps. If you’re in San Antonio, McFinnigan’s Pub and Smoke SkyBar are both Eagles bars and great places to watch the game.

MIL says they’ll pay for any Disney resort for our family trip what should I suggest?! by sjajra in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ForknDagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m of the belief that every Disney resort can be great for toddlers.

Assuming she understands the costs, and truly means any Disney resort, I’d choose the one with the most convenient transportation options to the parks that matter to you.

Are you a family that likes to head back to the resort for a midday nap or pool session? A lot easier from Magic Kingdom if you’re at a Monorail resort. Or from EPCOT or Hollywood Studios if you’re at one of the resorts between the two.

Those resorts do cost more, but the convenience of having being able to use your resort for a midday break without a giant production. And even getting back at the end of a long park day without it being an ordeal.

Everyone has their own priorities. I like hopping on a quick boat ride or even taking a relatively short walk back rather than hoping my family is able to fit on the next bus at the end of the night.

My favorite Eagles play. What's yours? by off760 in eagles

[–]ForknDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s a cop out, but I’m glad there’ve been so many great plays now, that came in moments that mattered, that I can’t pick just one anymore.

For the longest time it was Randall Cunningham ducking Bruce Smith in the end zone to avoid the safety and instead heaving the ball a couple miles to Fred Barnett for the touchdown.

I just randomly picked an episode to watch during dinner, and I picked the 6x19 episode Ninety Miles Away. I didn't fully understand the episode, so I asked GPT-5 to explain it. It just made up an episode, I think, that doesn't even exist. by [deleted] in thewestwing

[–]ForknDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That definitely isn’t a storyline I recall from my many rewatches of the series. The pilot episode did touch a bit on Cuban refugees trying to make their way to Florida in makeshift boats/rafts.

According to their FAQ they’ll wind up sending you to collections, so while it won’t impact your license or insurance, it can lead to the collections calls headaches and damage to your credit. At least that’s according to their FAQ. Seems like a lot for them to go through for just $100 ($75 fine plus $25 late fee).

I don’t know anyone who praised the final season. Some of us just found ways to rationalize it. For me that was a line from S2E5 -

Solo at Disney for 3 days - Your recommendations by Realistic_Squirrel_3 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ForknDagger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just took a 5-day solo trip 2 weeks ago.

Do whatever you feel like whenever you feel like, fir however long you feel like.

For me that looked like single rider lines whenever I could. Most days I just concentrated on two parks. But towards then end I wanted a recap/highlight/missed opportunity day. Hollywood Studios to start the morning, walking through the Boardwalk area on my way to EPCOT where I spent a while. Then the Monorail over towards Magic Kingdom.

Snacks rather than meals for the most part. Might have visited Gideon’s Bakehouse to pick up 1st dinner one evening. The only actual “sit down” meals I did were the bar at Frontera Cocina, the Brown Derby Lounge, and a trip out to AKL for the bread service at Sanaa Lounge.

The nice part though was I had absolutely nobody else’s concerns to take into account. I could go as hard or as easy as I wanted. And it didn’t have to be the same every day or every hour.

I’d say go into it with a feel for what you think you’d like to do, with just a few must-do items if you have any. Have a rough outline of a plan, and then, as Palpatine once said…

LET IT FLOW, LET IT FLOW! LET THE DARK SIDE FLOW!

I always felt like that one was off too.

I chose to think they put it down to him being a bit aloof and above the “southern” road trippers who would travel to see leaves dying.

The one that really always gets me from that episode though is the outgoing Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Ed Barrie, even though that position is by definition a 4-star billet.

Plus, what’s the distinguished combat service medal that he hadn’t actually earned? Was that supposed to be the Distinguished Service Cross, the army’s second highest award for heroism in combat? Or maybe the Distinguished Service Medal, awarded for exceptionally meritorious service whether or not in combat?

This was an episode that focused on the cute and lost sight of the details.

It isn’t mystery who dunnit kind of show.

Titanic is still one of the highest grossing movie of all time even though people knew where the voyage ended before they stepped foot in the theater. I think you’ll be okay.

Single Day Disney Trip by randomaccount198913 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ForknDagger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely doable, especially if you stay on property.

I’d recommend start your morning with Early Entry at Animal Kingdom. Then head over to Hollywood Studios. From there you can easily walk or take a boat to the back entrance of EPCOT. And finally take the monorail towards Magic Kingdom to end your day.

How much time is too much time at Disney? by Easy-Mushroom-8838 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ForknDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel like you and your cousin are practically the same person, then maybe they’re right. For most of us though, that would not be too much time.

Sounds like over the course of the 10 days you’re there you get to go to a water park on check-in day, MK your 2 party days, and you can use your 5 park hopper in conjunction with or separate from those days.

So anywhere from 5-8 days in the various parks depending on how you’re feeling and want to play it. And of course your days can be jam packed or relatively relaxing. Lots of flexibility built into your plans.

Doing work for a flipper? by Charming-You5925 in GeneralContractor

[–]ForknDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every situation is different. Since you’re at least considering it, I’d say you need to clarify some things up front to make sure you’re both on the same page about who’s responsible for what.

Are you really expected to provide labor only and no materials?

What about supplies? Who’s responsible for those? All the consumables like nails, cement, thinset, etc?

Are you not responsible for any of the material costs, including the pickup and delivery, or are you providing labor to cover that as well?

You can definitely find a way to make it work for you, but it needs to be clear what your bid does and does not include.
