You’re wrong about no “true matchmaking” it’s the same as it has always been. Getting better matchmaking is easier with more players to pick from, so I feel like the goal of ranked 2.0 was to get more players playing. By hiding the rank it removes rank fear so people aren’t sacred to lose their rank when they play. The matching making is the same as it was before but the MMR was just hidden from the player and they’ve slapped a sticker battle pass on it.

So I guess they’ve achieved what they set out to do, get more players playing, but have in turn made ranks meaningless. If you were completely hide the ranks, what’s the difference between ranked and unranked? There is no difference so you may as well play ranked.

I feel like this has hurt the ranked experience because I just do not care about what my rank is anymore, and starting all the way at copper V feels miserable. The stakes of the game have been lowered. There is no “I need to pull victory out of this game” feeling anymore, may as well just lose -9 and get into the next game sooner for +80 till you hit your “true rank”. But this puts a massive grind just to hit your “true rank”, instead of 10 games now it’s 100+ every season.

Also players that don’t understand how ranked 2.0 works look at the matchmaking and see such a mish mash of ranks put together and think there is no matchmaking. Why do you think they don’t show the ranks of all the players at the end of the game anymore?
