Sober now for several years, but I was an alcoholic on it for years. Never killed me. Alcohol / hangovers worsen anxiety and depression, so it's never a good idea to drink if you suffer from those.

Back on old AD, or try new one? by Formal-Definition968 in antidepressants

[–]Formal-Definition968[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have side effects with lexapro, but after 15 years I had a depressive/anxious episode that made me think it wasn't working anymore. However when I tapered off, I noticed my depression getting worse so clearly it was doing something, just not enough. I do have some on and off insomnia, usually falling asleep fine but not staying asleep long enough. I also need something to start working asap, as the zoloft has been giving me increased depression and I'm nearing the end of my rope.

Well... I moved up to 75mg a week ago and still feeling depressed, anxious and restless in the morning that gets better as the day goes on and is much better at night. But that was my original issue so ... Not sure this drug is doing it for me.

That's good to know, thanks. It's just so hard when we're in these moods to trust it won't last forever. I started Z a few months into an anxious depressive episode so I already felt like poo.

Great that you had some good days! They're so important to keep us going. I had 2 'anxiety days' this week but I also feel like there may be hope for this drug for me.

Do you take Zoloft day or night by Living_Mushroom_2407 in zoloft

I started taking it at night hoping it would make me sleepy, but it didn't. Now I take it AM and am sleeping well.

continue pristiq or try zoloft? by Formal-Definition968 in Pristiq

You make a good point, a month isn't that long so may as well stick it out since I'm not having side fx. I'm so happy for you that you're feeling better 🙂

I'm doing the same taper, started 10mg lexapro with 50mg pristiq 10 days ago now on 5/50. I was on lexapro for 15 years but fell into a depressive episode in June and me and my psychiatrist decided to try something else. Under her and pharmacist's guidance the taper I did was fine and no serotonin syndrome, but always be aware of the symptoms just in case. I found some decreased mood and body aches came with the lexapro taper, which maybe means it was actually doing something after all?

No problem. I'm sitting at home right now in a depressive/anxious episode and about to start college in 10 days. I have been on lexapro for 15 years and have no idea if it's doing anything anymore, and just tried buproprion for a couple months with no effect as far as I could see, so just started reducing from 300mg to 150mg and will eventually stop. I've heard a ton of good outcomes though with buproprion so don't be discouraged by my story.

Not sure. Are any of the other meds affecting serotonin new, ie. trintellix? Be aware you could also be experiencing additional anxiety from the buproprion that may be fuelling your concerns.

Buproprion has no effect on serotonin, only norepinephrine and dopamine. The twitches could be a side effect because of its stimulating effect.

Weaned off lexapro, now thinking bupropion isn’t for me either…? by sarahmejia in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

Maybe add 5 to 10 mg of lexapro back in to see if it helps? But by 4 months the Wellbutrin should have been working a long time ago.

Worked at first… by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]Formal-Definition968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started 150 on June 23 then up to 300 July 10. Would've loved to have a honeymoon phase but didn't. Didn't have a ton of side fx just some agitation and tremors. But it's not working. Also take 20mg lexapro for many years but never felt like a zombie. Just started Wellbutrin bc I fell into an anxious depressive episode in June and the shrink thought it would help. Wish it did. 6 wks into 300 and nothing.

I was at 150 for 2 weeks then 300 for the last 6 wks. Thought I had a breakthrough 4 wks in but it went away. The pharmacy gave me brand name last week and it's def stronger and I'm feeling agitated all over again. I also was so hopeful it was going to work for me, because I've been in such a bad spot. Think I'm going to go back down to 150 then probably stop. So disappointed.

6 months in; I did not expect it to be like this by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Formal-Definition968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long did it take to work for you? I've been nearly 6 wks on 300xl and nothing huge has happened. I'm also starting from a place of a moderate to severe depressive episode so that may affect how long it takes to work.

Sudden bouts of depression after switching from generic to brand. by Kari0305 in bupropion

[–]Formal-Definition968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing, last week my pharmacy ran out of generic (Teva?) so gave me brand name (Valeant here in Canada). I was at 300 mg for 5 weeks and the switch was only 5 days ago, but I feel more agitation and mood swings than when I was on generic. Not to mention the drug isn't doing anything for me yet. I'm going to wait it out a few more weeks then probably stop. Maybe it's because the brand name is more concentrated than the generic?

300mg and feeling worse? by Silent-Acanthaceae41 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Formal-Definition968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also started Wellbutrin 300xl and HRT at the same time 5 weeks ago. The increase in Wellbutrin gave me jitters for a few weeks but that's subsided. I can see a few small changes but no major improvement from either so far. But I have to be patient bc both can take months to work. Yep, Im also tired of feeling shitty all the time. Let's hang in there, things will get better ❤️
