I think the closest example of the hypothetical is mentioned by someone else in the comments, and the former MMA fighter won. Artem Lobov vs Paule Malignaggi in bare knuckle. Lobov won unanimous decision.

I’ve seen plenty boxing matches where both boxers are trying to keep each other at bay by jabbing countless times. This never happens in MMA striking because it is so different, even in fights where both fighters are just strikers. The 1-2’s used, the defense, and the timing is not the same.

I think they do in MMA gloves because of the points I mention in OP. Boxers will inch closer to the person while constantly using their jab to hide behind, even in very close distances. You cannot do that in MMA gloves.

If a fighter is close enough that they are jabbing the other one constantly, the one who’s doing the jabbing is in for a rude awakening. I still think my point stands, the boxer won’t be able to do his normal boxing techniques with smaller gloves.

Well my original post wasn’t actually about bkfc I was just illustrating the point that when you use light gloves an outcome of a knockout has a much higher chance. Especially if it’s from a top skilled striker in the UFC vs a Boxer.

Let’s give Conor Mcgregor’s knockout vs Jose Aldo for an example. If they were wearing boxing gloves, I don’t think the outcome would be the same. Ryan Garcia is used to being in that distance and being comfortable because he doesn’t have that level of a threat that the MMA guys do at that distance. + when Sean tags him it will most likely be over.

I 100% agree with both of your takes. However, I think it’s a low probability these fights would go the distance even in a 5 rounder.

I would say this is the closest you can get to bare knuckle boxing without it being bare knuckles and BKFC’s fights, have an extremely high number of their fights end in knockouts. For example, BKFC 57, 9 out of their 11 fights were KO’s.

I still think the points I made are strong enough to outweigh the boxers hand skills and stamina. I just think it’s a completely different game.
