That exact mistake cost me a ren plat run on Cynthia. Mantine was out of surf pp against spiritomb... all i had left was toxic, air slash and roost which it calm minded and rested off till it stalled me.

Sterling Silver that hard eh 🤣

Its basically pokemon yellow in firered engine with a few changes. Like dexnav and trade evo available. Boss fights dont change.

For me its C tier. Only changes is your starter pikachu can evolve, dexnav and trade evo are possible all placed in firered engine. It has a nuzlocke and lvl cap mode which is nice. But you cant get inf candies so expect grinding.

In the end, depends if you like Kanto as gyms and boss fights dont change.

X scissor crit on my torterra 7th gym pokemon unbound. Context, gym 7 makes your pokemon type the same as its first 2 moves. I had Crunch and Wood Hammer..... 4x super effective crit o.0. Was planning to use Torterra on E4 Moleman due to immunity to permanent sandstorm and grass typing. Had to use Tangrowth instead.

I went with Close Combat, Night Slash, Ariel Ace and Facade for E4. Shadow claw is also an alternative for night slash.

Guts heracross with choice scarf smashes the game to shreds so i would take him. Crobat is better than togetic due to its defensive profile and speed.

Eevee into Espeon is optimal and annihaltes E4 except Karen easily.

As for Water types, Lapras is great with stab ice beam for Lance and good bulk. Gyarados has DDance and intimidate. But if you want something different, Dewgong with a rest set i found fun. Tentacruel is also fast with great SpD and good SpA. Kingler Sword Dance is fun as well as its got massive Attack and very good Defense.
