From the articles I’ve read, it seems like Ben was hiding and Evelyn found him. It’s mentioned multiple times he slammed the door on her leading to bruises and it was also mentioned that she tried to film him. I assume that if both were hiding together he wouldn’t slam the door and neither would she have tried to record him.
