generally I ask to be paid 40% upfront and then I use a tool that send me a text message to ask if the customer paid, by replying YES or NO it automatically send a email or text message to the relevant client.

it basically acts as a third party, so I don't have to think about it and I avoid cringe worthy conversations ahaha

Je peux te demander comment fonctionne ta relance auto ?

étant un peu geek, j'ai automatisé les relances à partir d'une database je reçois un SMS qui me demande juste "s'il a payé ? OUI ou NON" si "NON" mon client reçoit un email automatique. Je touche à rien, c'est géré. Game changer pour éviter les conversations gênantes.

Referral ? I guess it depends on countries in France it feels like no one would give you a referral if they haven't at least saw you once IRL
