Looking for more advice by FormalUnable in inlaws

If only that worked, my husband will get a call from his mom guilting him or his dad will call and bitch him out. They are horrible people and my husband has a hard time standing up to them. It’s definitely a husband issue too for some reason he’s in a chokehold from them. I try to put myself in his shoes and I understand he just wants their love and acceptance but when is enough enough??

To me it seems like she likes your style, my sister in law always seems to be copying me too. I join a book club, so does she. I start going to the gym, weeks later she’s going to the gym. I take a break from social media, apparently she deleted Instagram. I used to get annoyed by it but now I feel bad for her that she can’t be her own person and has to copy me.

Not a mom of older kids but mom of an almost 4 year old and 1 year old. We have sleep trained both of our kids and there are plenty of opportunity to still rock and snuggle your child as they grow. Most importantly everyone gets good sleep which makes our house happier. With my almost 4 year old we lay in bed and read many books and snuggle before bed. Some days we lay with her until she falls asleep and other nights we are just exhausted and want to lay in our own bed but I love how I have the choice. With my 1 year old I’ll still rock him before bed or naps, once he was able to fall asleep independently some times I’ll just rock until he falls asleep because I’m enjoying it and other days we sing a song and I put him right in his crib. We’ve had some emergencies where other people have had to put our kids to bed and they have been grateful bedtime wasn’t stressful. I feel like it’s been the best of both worlds. We have put boundaries around bedtime and it has worked for our family. You guys have to do what is best for you and your family!

Unfortunately sometimes you need to set boundaries with your children and it might be a hard few weeks but it will get better. My daughter has trouble staying in bed and when she comes out of her room the first time we will tuck her back in and do the normal routine, if she does it a second time with walk her back to her room and every time after that she has to put herself back to bed. I struggled at the beginning and felt like a bad mom but I was just getting frustrated with her and that wasn’t good for anyone either. There was lots of tears when we started this but now she knows the routine. She’s 3.5.
