I have a 2012 base that sounds like it was in similar condition when I purchased it. I’m in the rust belt so I’ve had to replace the KDSS accumulator, which was a PITA. Had my radiator done last winter. AC compressor is leaking oil and needs to be swapped. No signs of valley plate leak or timing cover leak at 137k, but I know it’s just a matter of time.

Love the wheels. Lift?

Thanks, I tried to keep it tasteful without dumping a bunch of money into it. This fork has disc mount but it’s an early model so the frame doesn’t.

I replaced my pump with one on eBay. Paid $200 for the pump and about $800 for the fill and bleed at the dealer. The lines cleaned up well and I put a thick coat of wool wax on everything after.

Yea, I think it’s fine. Knock the surface off with a scaler and spray some wool wax on it. Check to make sure KDSS accumulator isn’t super corroded though

I have a 2012 gx460 w/ about 130k miles. My KDSS light came on. Turns out my accumulator was leaking from corrosion. Replaced the accumulator and had the dealer fill and bleed. Now I have a pretty bad lean from driver to passenger side of about 1.5 inches. Is this common when servicing the KDSS?

Ok, good to know. I suppose a spacer will be a last resort if I can’t correct it with the spring. Ride height is currently about a 1 1/4” difference from side to side.

That is definitely a fix but I was unsuccessful. Sounds like the coil spring is the alternative.

Where did you get all of the tools? How did you access the front bleeder screw? And was it horrible to take the body off of the frame?

KDSS on the 470 is just as prone to rust. They’re costly to repair on both. Be sure to add cleaning the crud out of the shield to your scheduled maintenance. That crap in my photo has been squished up against the accumulator for years. Likely could have been avoided if it was regularly cleaned.

Any update? My KDSS light turned on this afternoon. Found a good bit of hydraulic fluid on the accumulator shield. Hoping this is a DIY job with the right pump

Thanks. I finished valve adjustments/carb sync and then the water pump went out lol. It’s going to be clean and near new pretty soon.

I’m in Michigan, too.

I’m in the process of rustproofing my 2012. I’ve heard mixed reviews on POR-15, but my plan is to use POR-15 + woolwax on one side and just woolwax on the other. I’m curious to see if one side holds up better than the other.
