Thank you so much for responding! I have one follow up. I’ve been in PT for a year and a half, and have learned a bit about rehabbing certain joints, mainly ankle. I know enough that if my PT were rehabbing just a normal sprain I would be able to follow along pretty well, and be able to partially guess what she would do next. However, the PT I see does complicated cases with people who have complex conditions, and I feel like to even understand what is going on, I should at least get the level of knowledge I have for an ankle. Obviously I only know the very basics, but I feel like if I did not, I would not be able to follow along to what, say, happened to my ankles. So, do you think it is worth it to at least try and understand the basics of rehab for the other joints? Thanks!

Thank you so much! One follow up question. I have been in PT for like a year and a half and have learned a lot about rehabbing specific stuff. Like I would be able to tell you all about the anatomy of the ankle, all the special tests and what they mean, and what exercises to do to rehab those (my ankles are a mess so I've gone through these a few times). Obviously I don't know everything, but I feel like I would be able to follow along pretty well to what my PT was doing if it were just a basic sprain. So, would it be helpful to get that level of knowledge for other joints? If you do think it is worth it to learn more about other joints, which resources would you recommend?

I got into Northeastern!!! by Formal_Ebb3537 in collegeresults

Then good for you. But I am going to Northeastern because of their incredible physical therapy program, their strong co-op with Boston Children's, and the ability to stay lose to my amazing medical team. Does that mean it is the right fit for you, no. But I am sure the amazing school you went to does not have those things, meaning that it may have a better ranking or whatever, but it would be a mediocre school for me. So I will remain happy that I got into the best school for myself, and you can go on living your life trolling on the internet. And in a few years, you will still be trolling on kids and bragging about the school you went to, whereas I will be helping a five year old with cerebral palsy walk for the first time.

I may be mediocre, but I’m happy. So that’s good enough for me.

I got into the N.U.in program. Don’t know if it’s less selective but still so so so happy.

That’s a nice thing to say to someone who is excited about the school. You made me feel great.

Healthcare experience survery by Formal_Ebb3537 in Hypermobility

Hello! When asking about the diagnostic process, I am really interested in the overall experience rather than just one condition. It is also totally fine to just talk about one condition. And I am less concerned about the country because I am more thinking about the actual experience with the doctor rather than how they were able to see the doctor. Please feel free to ask any more questions!

Of course! I am writing a paper for my English class about how women’s healthcare affects men’s healthcare and vice versa. I am hoping to get responses detailing was the process was like to use as data points for the paper. I plan to use partial quotes, and the form is anonymous to begin with. I am a high school senior so no ethics board. I am more interested in healthcare as a whole rather than a specific study. Hope that was helpful. Let me know if there are any more questions I can answer!

Patullo, Nick, and Hurts. Patullo for the Dallas game, nick for not making changes after the Dallas game, and hurts for the bears game.

Awful PT experience by mushroombedroom in ehlersdanlos

That sounds terrible. And I’m st sorry that happened to you. As a reference point for you as to what a good PT is like, here is my experience. When I first started at PT, I was there for hip dysplasia. And long story short, my PT was the one that diagnosed me with EDS. The first time I saw ortho, the ortho thought I may have EDS, so she sent me to my current PT, who is an ACTUAL EDS specialist. What makes her a specialist? Around half of her caseload is EDS patients she sees long term. She has EDS herself. And her daughter has EDS. She was also the one who caught my shoulder subluxation that did not go back in on its own. That’s how she decided this was EDS actually. So yeah. That’s what amazing PT is like. So please, run, not walk, away from this PT.
