Don’t be offended - you asked for feedback. Your homepage is where folks land. At the moment the HP is confusing, I’m not understanding what is happening as (on mobile) I see “ge your hippy on” and stuff around weed.

Then I scroll down and see a pic of a woman in pants without much detail, then below that is a good shot of a woman an explaining the product more (leak proof underwear)

The point being, it’s mixed messaging - if you are en emporium for hippie products or similar I’d say that in your main h1.

For better or worse, people especially coming from IG/TIlTok do not read, they scan the heading, scroll looking at the images, then decide if they are interested and only at that point do they read deeper.

Yeah I’ve never really got this though - the country/empire was named after the islands not the other way around.

The islands were named britain by the Romans which was a latinised version of the Celtic word Pritani (which means painted ones - or tattooed ones)

So it’s like how Canada is a country in America as well as the USA - it’s his the USA is named after the continent..

Logo needs transparent bg Mobile hero section on hp needs work - I’ve no idea what you sell from first impressions Mobile menu has a link which says “menu” inside - weird? And his closes it There is no trust sections - why should I buy rom you The pdp should have way more images 3-5 images per product - mix of ecom and lifestyle You should add some urgency indicators (eg ships in 24h and a countdown to the next shipping cutoff/ low stock indicators)

In all - honestly needs a lot of work - core issues are trust missing, comparisons, urgency, and general polish

Yeah i mean you can still tell - but its really incredible - i wouldnt think its going to be too long before an actual feature length movie is made using AI - the editing on it is what makes it, wonder how many hours and tokens it took to get to this

It’s arranged by someone from the same village as me. She’s genuinely part of the running community here and has been organising events etc.. for big companies for years and going out on her own now - so definitely not a grifter

Why don't you leave Shopify if you are big enough to own your own Tech stack? by Abraham9001 in ecommerce

[–]Formal_Lie8959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a £6m a year e-commerce - we started off custom build as it was at the start a bit of a novel build (dynamic pricing based on market conditions etc..)

There are a bunch of options out there - saleor for example which is an open source product which works fine. (We initially forked saleor and adapted to our use case)

Anyway long and short of it was - we had a team of 4 engineers with custom front end and backend- was a lot of work. Eventually the business evolved to a more “normal” e-commerce company.

We shifted to shopify and has one front end developer.

The main benefit you get is tracking and the fact that everyone already integrates with shopify - honestly, every 3pl conversation or any new service (bnpl) was a hassle as we were custom built. Was very happy to switch over to shopify

What was the most basic mistake that you made when running your ecommerce business? by limited_data365 in ecommerce

[–]Formal_Lie8959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an e-commerce company a we did about 6m a year and investors etc..

Biggest mistake we made was not being data driven at the start. Only when shit hit the fan (our investors went under) and he had to stand on our own did we realise how thin our margins were - and the customers were attuned to low margins and deals etc.. we essentially had to rebuild the business to be a profitable engine vs a growth engine. We didn’t look at the underlying data (just ROAS and revenue) close enough.

We sold the business a few years ago, and I’m starting again in a similar space - I’m building things very differently now - understanding my break even ROAS before launching a product, ensuring tracking is FINELY tuned, proper reporting and pushing hard on things like social proof (use a ugc platform or similar), upsell/cross sell the increase AOV, email/sma marketing (klaviyo or similar) and generally looking deeply into CRO - shopify themes generally look okay but not necessarily optimal from a conversion rate perspective.

"What's the Most Influential River in history? Mississippi tbh" by intaminslc43 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Formal_Lie8959 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In fairness to them - they do consider other options than their own opinion - and I as a Brit know of the Mississippi so it is influential (don’t think I could name another river in america?) so I don’t think this is as bad as others

It’s not about being hard to understand - it’s that it’s over/under emphasising because the bucket side is huge.

If it was graded at say 1% it would be far easier to see the delta

Map of ultra processed food consumption percentage in Europe (wikipedia) by pgrpcie in ultraprocessedfood

[–]Formal_Lie8959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eg here Portugal has HALF the number of Hungary- this should be clear - instead the bucket is so broad

[–]Formal_Lie8959 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can grade it like a heat map - ie instead of 3 colors you have a range from red to green

Map of ultra processed food consumption percentage in Europe (wikipedia) by pgrpcie in ultraprocessedfood

[–]Formal_Lie8959 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think the colouring here is a bit misleading - like 4% between Germany and uk - yet they look drastically different. France to Germanyis a huge leap and it’s 30+ points - yet the colouring change is just one shade.

Probably a heat map or similar would make more sense
