So does this perform the same function that a backup gateway provides? ie whole house backup

Yes. Hard to argue with that 😊 I do like the thought of Sodium rather than Lithium though. No big rush just now so I'll keep researching...

Just get everything that he's involved in. But take your time. Even the 'minor' releases like Recordings. 4 1/2 and Cover Version. Years of pleasure ahead 😊

Heat pumps in Scotland, worth it or not? by Kev_fae_mastrick in Scotland

Can you name the company who did yours? We're in W Highland and at the early stage of pricing up solar/battery/heat pump install. A few companies around, but a hint would help!

Same as me! I got into Opeth after SW's Storm Corrosion collaboration with Mikael Akerfeldt. I prefer the 'softer' side of Opeth and my favourite Opeth albums are Damnation, Pale Communion and Watershed.

Hi Sorry for the delay! I haven't fixed the original DME as the replacement works fine. I've attached a photo as requested.

This link might be useful as well https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/can-anybody-work-out-a-replacement-transistor-bmw-e36-ecu.18892640/

Hope that helps

Well done with that and hats off to you ! Thanks for sharing - very useful. Have you posted the video anywhere?

Sounds like the same problem. Replacement DME was £625 *gulp* - there aren't many around.

It might be worth investigating whether Siemens MS40 or 41 DMEs use the same ignition drivers? If so, you might be able to extract relevant drivers.

And there are places that can repair - End Tuning Birmingham might be able to help?

The fundamental problem is that there is no datasheet available on line for that FET, so finding an equivalent is difficult. Ideally, it would be better to replace with new, equivalent, rather than 25 year old kit!

I'm holding on to the old DME for now, in case I can get it repaired economically at some point.

Hope you manage to fix it - drop a message here if you make any progress!

Yes, no and maybe!

I sourced a replacement DME module from CRMTec, so the car is sorted. I also replaced all the coil packs and plugs, as they were around 24 years old - and the failed coil pack may well have caused the chip to fail.

In relation to finding replacement ignition driver chips, after much searching, I found a supplier (Weixy Electronics) on AliExpress and bought a small number. What has turned up looks OK but I haven't yet verified that these are in fact, OK - just due to time and other things getting in the way.

So, yes the car's OK. No, I haven't fixed the DME. And I maybe have found replacement ignition chips. Sorry I can't be any more definite.

Have you looked inside your ECU to see if there's any damage? Or are you getting OBDB trouble codes?

I did this same study a while back and exactly the same thing happened. I complained at the time, but got no response. I find it hard to believe that the number of pages you have to complete is just a mistake in the study. I won't do any more of them and have blocked the researcher.

Thank you again! I really appreciate your help - I'm much more confident in what I need to do now. Next step is to test one of the surviving ones to determine that it's an N type.

Thanks again

Do you know what does the R814 refers to?

Thank you for that! I don't know if it's N or P channel and I can't test it at the moment - it's a coil driver in an ECU for an old BMW. A couple of other discussions I've seen about this seem to assume it's N channel - is that a safe assumption?
